Publisher's Summary

From Facts of Life to Living Single to Dancing with the Stars to wife and mom, here's the Blessed Life of Kim Fields, veteran actress, TV personality, and star.

Kim Fields has lived most of her life with people thinking they know her, which is understandable. From her first job on a Mrs. Butterworth syrup commercial at age seven, she has spent 40 years in the public eye. There were nine years as Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey on the classic sitcom The Facts of Life, five more in her 20s starring as Regine Hunter on the seminal coming-of-age show Living Single, and most recently appearing as herself on Real Housewives of Atlanta and Dancing with the Stars.

Behind the camera, she has directed episodes of Kenan & Kel, Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns and House of Payne, and BET's Let's Stay Together. Between gigs, the pop culture icon's life has included theater, spoken word, music, speaking engagements, and simply being present to the point that she cannot go a day without someone stopping her to say, "When I was a kid, I wanted to be Tootie" or "You were my role model".

Flattered and blessed, after four decades in the business, Kim finally understands the role she has played onscreen and off as a successful, outspoken African American woman. However, for as much as she's been in the public eye, people have really never known her the way they think they have, and that's because she herself spent most of her life figuring herself out. Now, at age 48, she is ready to set the record straight. She says, "It's not that I've been misunderstood. It's that I finally feel like I understand me enough to tell the life story that I've been asked to write for years." It will be a chronicle of living, learning, and keen moments of self-discovery as she's journeyed through the many facets and chapters of life. Fields found faith at age 14 and has found God to be right there every step of the way since then.

I really wanted to like this...

I really wanted to like this book but something about the performance rubbed me the wrong way. I could relate to the content but the delivery didn’t strike me as authentic. Nearly everything about Kim’s voice was sing-song but I don’t know anyone who recalls every event in their life - good, bad or indifferent in a musical way and I wondered if it was genuine.

Sugar and Spice, but still Nice!

I'm certainly a fan of biographies and this was no different. Who doesn't like Kim Fields??!! She reads her life story and it almost sounds like a nice girl read, you know a good girl. But I like Kim Fields and getting a glimpse into her world still makes this an interesting listen.

Wonderful biography!

Growing up, I watched Kim fields on the facts of life. Tutti was one of my favorite characters. I have recently seen a lot of articles about Kim fields and all of her work in the entertainment industry. So I was very curious to read this book and find out what all she has done. I enjoy reading a lot of biographies/memoirs about actors and singers that I grew up with. This one was very different from what I normally consider your average biography. Kim talks about her spiritual journey as well. The actress shares with you how God is a very big presence in her life. It really is a very inspiring book and I am really glad I found it and bought this book! I think others who knew the actress in childhood series should take the time to read this book and be inspired by Kim’s journey.

Outstanding and inspirational !!!!

This story of her journey thus far is told with heartfelt love and leaves a spiritual footprint on the soul. She connects with the listener/reader on so many levels. As she peels back the layers of her life it all relatable. I've always loved her and her mom this just makes it a deeper delightful admiration for my Sister in Christ.

Loved your story!

I always admired Kim Fields from the Facts of Life and beyond!! And her being a native New Yorker just endeared her to me even more!! I watched her on RHOA, and I admired her even more on how she carried herself against the shenanigans of the other housewives. She showed real substance. Her book just took it over the top for me!! There is no way anyone could compete with her knowledge, and experience when it comes to the entertainment world. Her acquaintances alone made your mouth drop!! God bless you Kim, and continue to be an inspiration to other women.

Real Christ-follower not a Christian

It was a bit hard to get into because I'd listen to a brash narrative of another Hollywood icon and was kinda expecting the same flow. I kept listening and was oh so happy I did. Kim's proclamation of her faith and family never waivered. It was refreshing and needed at this time in my life. Thanks so much Mrs. Morgan.

Black don't crack!

Wow, where to begin! Kim Fields began her life in Harlem moving to Hollywood with her mother as a child. This is her autobiography, and it is a beautiful deep reflective account from a beautiful soul. It made me laugh in places, it also brought a tear to my eye sometimes too. Even though Kim has been in show business since she was a child there is so much in this book that is relatable to women in general. I loved how Kim herself narrated this, it very quickly started to feel like I was settling down for a drink with a good friend. I also appreciated Kim's reflections on faith and her beliefs throughout the book. I'm not particularly religious but I appreciate the beliefs of others and I enjoyed Kim sharing hers. I also enjoyed hearing how Kim progressed from a child star in a commercial to a 40 year old successful married mum of two. Like all of us, Kim had her challenges along the way, but she kept going. I think that makes her one inspiring lady.
