Weaving in her personal story, which ushered her from a roach-infested low-income apartment to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, she demonstrates how she overcame her setbacks and challenges despite the cultural expectation that she should embrace a victim mentality.

Well-researched and intelligently argued, Blackout lays bare the myth that all black people should vote Democrat—and shows why turning to the right will leave them happier, more successful, and more self-sufficient.

I am bawling at the conclusion! From start to finish this book is informative, smart, enlightening, important and RELEVANT!...Especially with current events of 2020. READ IT!!!

I really enjoyed this book.

I felt like I came to the table with a good knowledge of the subject but the facts that Candace shared were at times jaw dropping. I also enjoyed knowing more about her personal background, and her motivations. I feel like she made a concise and solid case and did it by owning every bit of her story.

Great insight into black history and the use of it in current issues

I love Candace, it saddens me that more black people will not hear her out tho. I think given time they will. At least from my experience, white male in a pro dominant white community. I am confused about some race issues because I grew up in Utah. In recent years the “Utah Jazz” has been labeled as having extremely racist fans. When I watch some of the actions that lead people to this conclusion on You Tube, I find that I am extremely un-knowledgeable on the subject. I honestly didn’t even know calling Russell Westbrook a “boy” was considered racist, Respectfully. Mainly because I didn’t grow up around black people. Some yes, but very few. I was taught that racism is a horrible thing, never say the “N” word and I watched Roots when I was young. I remember feeling devastated and extremely remorseful while watching the “Roots” series with my mother. I never could understand how people could be so cruel to another human of any color for any reason, and the memory of this series has stuck in my mind for years. My mother was smart to watch it with me. Still, I realize as a 50 year old adult I have not explored this subject enough. Candace is rare. She is one of a few public figures who is black and stands on the side of strength and will, rather than dispare and devistation and victim hood of her race and or family and their past. There are people on both sides of this coin in all races and or family units. I respect her efforts and opinion much more than Lebron James or Collin Kapernick for this reason. These athletes have a skewed reality of what is going to help their own race because they have been handed huge sums of money for their talents and this is rare in reality. Most people of any race won’t have this opportunity in life. Candace is highly talented, smart, and beautiful to boot. But I don’t think she was handed much, and Probly won’t have near the huge sums of money thrown at her for it at such a young age. Black people should not see her as a threat, but a beacon of light who shines brightly showing a path to success. Great job Candace! Keep up the good work.

Everyone needs to read/hear this information. Candace did an amazing job with the audio book and overall it’s obvious she’s done her research. I plan on listening to this again since the second time usually brings “new” information.
