Publisher's Summary

Virus. Chaos. Survival. Alienated in a world where he doesn't fit in, Christian Black survives because he's different. Then the virus came, and made the world turn different, too. Eerily close to 2020.

In light of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, this book has some very creepy similarities. Even scarier is it doesn’t take much of your imagination, to
see today’s world ending up like this. The possibility of this book being a self-fulfilling prophecy makes it all the more scarier to listen to. My heart is still pounding.

I wish it had been longer!

This book was very well written. It captured my attention and kept it the end. I really wish it had gone on much longer. I'll definitely be looking for the next book in this series.

I Liked It

Black Virus was well written, the characters were believable and they flowed into the story nicely, I am looking forward to reading/listening to the next story in the series. Tristan Morris did a good job narrating. I already owned the Kindle printed book, so when I saw this in the Audible Plus catalogue I snapped it up, as I like to read along while listening. Recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre.

A new twist to the standard zombie story

This is the first book in the Black Rust series. While shorter than the average book, the author still managed to deliver a great opening to the series.

The difference between those people who die from the virus strain vs. those become "degenerates" and function at different levels is a nice new twist on the standard infection story line.

I have to say that I really like the main character Christian Black, even though he has quite a dark personality. I'm looking forward to jumping into book two without delay.

DEGENERATES

I am not sure how this guy makes a living? This was my third and last try at his writing. He is not awful, he just is not interesting. He takes the most exciting topics and turns them into Meh. The not Zombies don't even eat people, why would you take away the most horrifying thing about zombies? Well, they didn't through the first two hours, I called it quits after that.

Short but full. Great listen!!

This was a short story but full of suspense and action. I would like to think of a possible second book to follow this one. I think this could become a good series. Excellent narration too. I won’t give any details because I don’t want to spoil it for the next listener. Glad this was free. Glad I took the time to listen. Would definitely listen to it again!

Good Start to a series

I enjoy other books by Bobby Adair. His Slow Burn series really kept me hooked. I can see this one doing the same. The audible rendition most times were good however there were a few where the narrative lacked and seemed a bit monotone. I would still recommend and will listen to it in the future.

H1N1 comes to life

This is all too familiar in 2020. Good adventure read, (spoiler) kinda sad. Zombies as forgetful people, scary dark.

OK, but too much graphic violence.

This is an interesting short story and quite prescient under current circumstances. However, I disliked the unnecessarily graphic descriptions of violence, which distracted from the story and were very unpleasant.

Short

I liked the pace, and content of the book, the storyline is just one of many in this genre, the only reason it hasn't got full marks is, it was too far short

uninspiring characters

Much better books out there on the dystopian/ pandemic/zombie topic. Two dimensional characters... you really don't care about. Many cliches and tropes.

Only listened to the sample because it was free. But you'd expect them to put one of the best parts of the book into a sample. But if this was it, I dodged a bullet.

Great short story

Scarily prophetic for a story from 2016. Just change H5N1 to SARS-CoV-2 and you have a current story that plays into some of the conspiracies surrounding Covid-19.

A great short story on its own, and an interesting beginning to a series.

Lots of unanswered questions which make me keen to listen to the next book. Great storyline as usual.
