Awakening, the ultimate achievement, the number one way to ensure a successful future.

Alexa was close to achieving this ultimate goal only to realize how unimportant these goals were, without being able to share them with those she truly loves.

As her opportunity arises, external factors change everything, taking away that which Alexa holds dear.

Now, in her moment of deepest sorrow, she must rise up once more, protecting the world from multiple enemies all hiding in plain sight.

There will be a reckoning, and her name is Alexa Thyme.

enjoyable

All great, accept the Flash! Bang! stuff. Sound and sight blurbs from comic books do not work in an audio book. It's just annoying when the narrator goes, Flash!, and then describes a light flash. Annoying! The reader found themselves annoyed.

Great!

I love Alexa Thyme but the author is overly wordy in all of their books. Concepts explained multiple times from multiple characters points of view. feelings that the characters feel are beaten into your to the point that they come off as just trying to fill space. and the ending of the book is unsatisfactory to say the least. the main character lives in a space where all decisions are black and white with zero Shades of Gray which negatively affects everyone around her this doesn't really become a problem until the last two chapters. and it's just annoying and unsatisfactory I won't read the next book if there's another one.

the writing is good besides being wordy and chatty the reader is excellent and if you like lit RPG Style characters that develop Powers over time this is a good book for it and the idea of the story is good it's just the stuff I already listed that I have problems with that will keep me from listening again.

it ok the end is meh

I love this series and I mostly liked this edition to it, but the long-winded and unnecessary retellings of the same scene were terrible and the completely unrealistic event at the end with veteran supers somehow thinking Alexa did something bad/evil despite them seeing everything was complete crap and such a forced plot device that it almost ruins the entire series.

A Swing and a Miss

The story is not terrible and mostly enjoyable. But Honestly, I wish I hadn't listened to the last hour as it basically ruined the entire book for me. I understand what the author was going for there, but they either needed to have a much better lead up to it, or honestly a way better explanation for why they did what they did. The author never hinted at nor explained how the way the character ended it would help in any way, shape or form.

---Spoilers -----
Ok for a spoiler clarification. it really is the last like 15 minutes that irritates me. If removing powers from the planet would have stopped the invasion that should have been hinted at for the entire story and/or been a major choice that we delve into for the character not something that is just tossed in randomly at the end. Especially since we aren't even sure it does stop the invasion, maybe it delays it, but what then? She is literally doing what the enemy wanted by removing any possible force to stop them. So in no way does this seem logical as would be expected of her. And If Alexa was supposed to be doing this out of anger and not from an analytical view point then it should have been a major point to show, plus I get why she doesn't want her mother to keep being active but there is no world where forcing her to age faster and die sooner is helpful?

It basically seems to me that in the last 15 minutes Alexa's personality did a complete flip and now she is an evil overlord who should be the antagonist of the next story that has to be killed so that humanity can thrive once more. Which would be fun if it had actually been a major moment and not a throw away comment at the end.

Story is fine but I hated the ending.
