Publisher's summary

Losses pile up like the snowdrifts of a never-ending winter in this post-apocalyptic series conclusion.

Nathan Tolley’s wife is gone, leaving him adrift in a vast ocean of bitter white that promises nothing but heartache and despair. Yet, his weary band of travelers continue to look to him to secure their safety. But Nate’s no leader. Every decision he’s made on their dangerous cross-country journey has taken them from bad to worse. First Detroit. Then Chicago. Now, Wyoming, which proves the deadliest of all.

As circumstances continue to deteriorate like the weather, Nate turns their sights south, but the past is about to catch up to them in ways none of them will see coming. And in order to embrace an uncertain future, sacrifices must be made.

Survival of the fittest gets real - fast.

And, this time, it’s personal.

Black Ice bk 3

This was a really good book!Nathan is trying to move on without his wife.He has his sons.He has his group. They know not to trust people ,but sometimes they'd like to in this horrible new world. D.C. Newman was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good and easy, entertaining listen.

This is the seventh book I’ve read/listened to by this author. I’ve listened to the first in this series, but not yet the second. I’m keen to listen to it to fill in the gaps. Despite not listening to it, I did not have issues with understanding this book. It’s seems to me this is the end of this series-trilogy?
This is another good, easy, uncomplicated listen. It is light on the survivalist comments. There are lots of misadventures, conflicts with other people and hard decisions to make. They find a settlement that seems all they could ask for, yet of course it is nothing but. They seek aid at the FEMA camp- even this is not perfect. We learn how Brant seems to always find them. In all this, they still find an ally.

This is the second book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( D.C. Newman ), the other being the first book in this series. He Does really well with both male and female voices. He imparts the characters individual personalities. I think his style lends well to this genre. He does not narrate with an over excitable style, it is a more dry tone, but I think it fits and I like it.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or swearing, there is violence but no excessively gory violence.

Great Series

Great series, different take on how the world ends and how people survive. A group of friends go though hell to survive the ending if the world. They stand beside each other and fight to live. Lots of action and the ending wasn't what i expected. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life and getting you vested in their lives.

One disaster after another!

When last we left our intrepid band of survivors they were headed for Casper, Wyoming. Nathan continues his track record of bad decisions and mistakes, which ultimately get people hurt. Casper is a bust, reminiscent of Waco. The group heads south into Wyoming always looking for a place to rest and recuperate. The next stop splits the group between those that want to stay and those who want to put more distance between them and Detroit. The situation goes from bad to worse and the group is forced to move again. One of the party is seriously wounded which force our survivors to seek the medical facilities at the FEMA Camp outside of Denver. Here Nathan’s arch enemy catches up with him and a showdown is inevitable. Will our survivors ever be free of Brant’s obsessive revenge? Will, they finally find a place to settle down and survive the cold? I’m not telling; you’ll have to stay tuned.
