Publisher's summary

In a moment of weakness I sent out a cry for help—one that was answered by my estranged brother’s right-hand man.

A murderer.

A butcher.

He storms into my life with his expensive suit pockets full of sedatives and cable ties in case I don’t approve of his form of protection.

Let me assure you, I don’t.

But when my world falls apart and I have nowhere else to go, I’m forced to escape with him.

To an isolated house.

Just me and him.

Alone.

And it quickly becomes clear that the monstrous people I’ve been afraid of are nothing in comparison to the man in the room next door to mine.

A standalone novel in the bestselling, seductively thrilling Hunting Her series.

This was a bit darker than I was expecting.....

This was another "new to me" author - it's been that kind of week....

This was more along the genre of dark romance, I think, and I knew that going in. Honestly though, it was REALLY difficult reading about the behavior of the FMC Abri Costa and the way she thought about herself. She kept telling herself that she was a bad**s but in reality, her self esteem was so very low. Granted, she was in a really bad situation, but when she kept trying to go back and apologize to the men that just tried to rape and beat her, that was hard to read. Yes, I know what the author was trying to show, but man, that was tough.

Anyway, Bishop - the MMC- was an interesting character. He was one of those guys that is scary to everyone else (he was known as the Butcher), but really down deep....REALLY deep, he was a teddy bear (well, at least to Abri) Well, when he wasn't being a jerk :)

There was an interesting plot, once you got past the whole - "I want you", "No you don't" back and forth that took up WAY too much of the book. Also, there is a scene where these two finally get together and it is in the WORST possible place. Not going into spoilers but when I read that I kept thinking, "you've got to be kidding me....seriously?" I mean, of ALL the places....

All in all I did like the book. It could have been about 100 or 150 pages shorter and still gotten everything across, but I definitely liked the HEA.

Excellent!

I enjoyed the whole package...the storyline and the narrators (especially Bishop's snarkiness), Simply put, it was an A+ read. Good job Eden Summers, et al.

Ok in most places

Something was missing from this. It’s somewhat overly dramatic in places, and the characters are hard to relate to. There was some pretty good character development though.

Bishop

My first & last 🎧book by this author. I just didn’t like the narration and since that is such a huge factor for audiobooks it didn’t do nothing for my listening experience. Is it worth a credit? No
