Story
Anger is a universal human experience. For many of us, it is the single greatest challenge in every area of our lives. We have been taught that anger itself is a sin and should be avoided at all costs. However, anger is also understood to be 'nature's way' of preparing man to respond in times of danger. How then do we go about bringing this volatile emotion under the Lordship of Jesus Christ? Gary Chapman gives us the perfect tool to answer this and many other questions in The Other Side of Love.

It's easy to identify rage in people who lose their temper at traffic jams, unruly children, unresponsive coworkers, and unrealistic bosses. But we may not recognize more subtle manifestations of anger, such as being uncomfortable with loose ends, acting impatiently, or being overly critical. That is anger, too. And, as is so often the case, angry folks don't seem to realize that the behavior causing them problems at home or at work actually stems from unrecognized and unresolved pain and emotional injuries from the past.

Publisher's Summary
A revised and updated edition of the popular self-help book for men that addresses contemporary issues and how they impact the way men deal with anger
Men tend to express their anger differently than women do. Research shows men are often more violent and less willing to confront and deal with their emotions than women. Written by a psychologist who specializes in the treatment of male rage, Beyond Anger shows the angry - and miserable - man how to change his life and relationships for the better.
This book helps men understand their anger by explaining what the specific symptoms of chronic anger are and by showing angry men how their actions negatively affect family, friends, and coworkers. It helps men control violent feelings by using simple exercises - developed especially for men - to identify when and why anger occurs and by helping them form new habits to prevent anger before it starts. Women, too, will learn essential strategies for understanding and helping the angry men in their lives.
Beyond Anger is honest, tough, and real. In this revised edition, Harbin will update references throughout and discuss new topics such as the role of the internet and social media in fueling anger and how to protect yourself against these pitfalls, as well as a discussion on anger and aging, the political landscape and anger, PTSD, a brand-new section on preventing relapse into anger, and many other relevant, timely topics.

A great resource in understanding Anger.
I wasn't sure what this audio book had in store, but I was happy I had listened to it. It covers a wide variety of anger issues from having small anger issues to being a full blown rageaholic. I didn't realize how much anger I had built up inside over the years. Our mind does a very good job of masking problems that are hard to face head on. I think that everyone should listen/read this book for we all come in contact with angry people on a daily basis. Some of my anger I felt was justifiable, but soon found out that I was wrong. The story was well narrated and flowed consistently with great examples. I think this book can help parents or people who have to live or work with angry people. There are a few people in my life that I wish were more opened minded to material such as this. I would recommend this book to anyone that is willing to learn about anger. I think the wisdom and stories in this book can help a large variety of people. We should all be open minded to personal growth and this book has helped me in that aspect. Thank you and take care.

Needs improvement
While the book does a good job of outlining different types of angry personalities/ways people express their anger, gives interesting and detailed scenarios illustrating the aforementioned, however the build up to the actual strategies was extremely slow and appears bogged down with irrelevant information to the point I nearly stopped listening. The narrator sounded like he was dressing someone down and needed to take an anger management course. Lastly, the tone of the book was demeaning, with curse word used to refer to women, and attacks on masculinity that were not at all professional. The book opened my eyes to my own issues but I would not recommend it and plan to look elsewhere for something more professional put together.

Harbin is a sicko
what's with the narrator talking like he is pissed off?
his so called identification of anger are him venting and accusing others (listeners) of committing his own mistakes. I feel like this harbin guy was a real tool and abused his wife because the section of the book where he accuses other men of taking their anger out on women sounds like it is his story and he is talking to himself. what's with most of these so called therapy books, where I feel that the authors have wrote the book for themselves by dumping their issues and problems on other people? I had to stop the book and return this garbage because I couldn't stand the accusation, rebuke and reproach tone he has toward the readers, or so called angry men. I think the author is more angry at the 'angry men' than the angry men themselves.

After the first two chapters, I was already well on the way to recovery from verbal abuse to others. It was a real eye opener to see what was classed as what people like me think as normal and abnormal behaviour, this book also covers a range of situations from partners, children, friends, family, work situations and childhood upbringings to really widen the range of audience. If I could meet this Author, I’d thank him for changing my outlook on anger, and in turn, my life and future.
So yeah, I recommend it.
