Publisher's summary

Magical fantasy. Romance. Deception.

All of my expectations shattered the day my sister fell, and my magic changed.

Zivrune, the magi prince I’d loved since childhood, didn’t become king. My sister didn’t heal the land. The two of them didn’t become bondmates.

For years, I waited in hiding, hoping for the promised rebellion. Instead, the cruel king’s guards arrive and leave a trail of bodies in their search for someone. I know who they want. I just don’t understand why.

To find answers, I’m forced to return to Yandari and face my past. But I’m not the same girl anymore.

Because now I know family doesn’t mean fidelity, devotion definitely requires sacrifice, and love? For Zivrune, I’ll defy the law, regardless of nature or magic.

This coming-of-age fantasy is told in parallel timelines, building up to a shocking reveal that will leave you reeling and breathless. With action, drama, and unexpected turns galore, Betrayed is young adult fantasy that is dark, twisted, and beautiful.

Betrayed is the first book in the Magi Rising series and includes the previously released prequel, Fallen, plus an additional 30,000 words for a novel filled with unique magical powers, romantic suspense, and a surprising twist on teen shifter books. Due to thematic elements, Betrayed is intended for mature young adults and up.

it's complicated

I've read my fair share of high fantasy and the occasional timeline jumper but it's not executed well in this. I like the idea but it's too hard to follow.

So so good

I could not get enough of this story, and clearly need to download the sequel immediately. I loved the audio, but at times wished I could flip back a couple of pages to remind myself if we were in the past or present. Raye has an amazing ability to create and describe a world so different from our own.

Great story!!

The storytelling in this book was amazing. I listened to the audiobook and right off the bat I knew I was going to love it. The narrator did a fabulous job telling the story and bringing it alive.
I must say I got a little confused while listening to the story. I felt like I should have picked a book prior to this one but I kept on listening. Once I got used to the storytelling of going back to now and what happened a couple of years ago it was a very intriguing book and I hated that it ended.

Loved it.

Loved it! I can’t wait to see how the characters evolve. The story jumps back and forth between the present and past along the main characters journey and leaves you wanting more.

Not sure

So I pushed through this book trying to give it a chance. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. To be perfectly honest all three books should be together. Im assuming there will be another one. Eye roll, the story doesn't leave you with a good feeling about any of the characters. Im not sure I will waste my money on anymore of her books. I have tried 4 so far and giving her books a chance. Even with all the cliffhangers the story doesn't leave you wanting more it makes you roll your eyes and say please just end this story.

Two Magical Thumbs Waaaaay up!

Elizabeth Evans does a fantastic job of bringing Raye Wagner's immersive story to life. She portrays character variation well and is great with pause and tone. The only thing that seemed to not quite flow were the yelling/screaming narratives for the males but it didn't detract much at all. I HIGHLY recommend this audiobook!

good but short

Good story, great Performance. Though a little difficult to follow at times and obscure. I wish it was a bit longer.
