I can't wait until the next one...

I wasn't prepared for the ending. .and when the narrator said "the end" I literally stared at my phone and immediately Googled when the next book will be out. This story keeps you on your toes. Sometimes I found myself yelling at the book...lol. When you can place yourself in the story talking to or yelling at the characters, that's how you know you have yourself a good story...a great book.

very interesting book

CATION: There maybe spoilers in this review.

this the second book I've read/listen to by Shelly Ellis. her books always catch my attention. I may check out more of her books.

I just wanted to throw my phone a cross the floor when I was listening to this book . the family in this book irked me so much. like they rather keep the secrets and or mess up their marriage or stay in a bad marriage. the only people in the book that didn't make me right were Leila, Antonio and Terrance.

but end the end they finally reveal there secrets and finally told. I was so glad of that. I got excited and said YES when Evan caught his wife Clarisse and his half brother Dante in the slower I'm like FINALLY.

And last but not least I had to laugh at the end when Paulette watching the news. I was glad Antonio didn't leave her. I did wanted to know what else happen between those to I didn't like how it ended I felt like it should've been more on Paulette and Antonio part.

book 1

I really enjoyed this story. I loved it except the 2 parts or 2 details. I won't tell you about the story or it's not my intent to. The story is about just what it says secrets. The 2 details I have issue with or I would have given it 5 stars are these l. 1st if someone drugs you and has sex with you its RAPE and nothing else. I your being blackmailed by someone and part of the blackmail scheme is to have sex with them and it's not your choice. Than it's sex with the person who is blackmailing you. Its not your lover.
Petty maybe, but lately everyone is trying to down play rape.

Too many Cons, Not enough Pros.

Took me a while to get used to the narrator and the book was slow until about chapter 15, but once I got over that hump the book was actually pretty good. And even though several characters got on my last good nerve, Paulette took the cake. She was SO childish and weak that it literally made me cringe and her storyline was so ridiculous that I fastforwarded most of her story. Also, the way that the author never addressed the RAPE after she was drugged AND RAPED made me furious. She told her brothers everything else, but the one thing that they could have handled before it even got bad made this book feel too TelaNovela'ish for me. The only thing missing was the music and commercials. The cliffhanger ending was also insult to injury. All in all too many cons and not enough pros so I do not think I will go on to book 2. I probably just need to cut my loses and move on.

Warning: The storylines are so stupid. I got this book for free and I paid too much

Every character is terribly idiotic. Their reactions to the ridiculous plots are so uncharacteristic of any sane person that the listener begins to resent the time spent listening to this garbage. I found myself fast forwarding a lot to see if any of it would make sense in the end. No such luck. Watch a soap opera on daytime TV instead. Even Tyler Perry would call this a stupid story.

Soap Opera...

I am on the struggle bus trying to listen to this book until the end. The women in this book are getting on my nerves, all the whining, crying (Clarisse), getting mad and storming out instead of telling a mofo where he can go after slapping the s@#! out of him (Leila and Paulette), letting a man black male you for something that happened 10 years ago, wayyy before you ever met your husband (Paulette), entitled revenge seeking half brother (Donte), rich business owner will to pay his problems away instead of giving his lush wife walking papers, only to keep up appearances (Evan).
I can remember my gramma telling me that she used to listen to the soap opera on the radio many years ago before they were televised. I imagine that it sounded a lot like this audio book. This is the first book I've read by this author and it's not bad, just not my style. I like fast paced action packed suspense filled thrillers with good story lines that keep you guessing until the end. Wahida Clark, Ashley and JaQuavis, Ca$h, NeNe Capri, KiKi Swinson, Brick and Storm, Carl Weber (especially the Family Business series)and Brenda Hampton are some of my faves. I thought I would try a new author and a different type of book but I am spoiled by the writing styles of the authors named above. I would listen to it while I'm doing chores around the house but not while driving a long distance. This is The Guiding Light, Days of our Lives and The Young and the Restless all wrapped up in one.

Not bad, worth the listen

This was my first time with this authir. It was pretty good for me it was somewhat predictable. That said, if you have the Audible Romance Package, give it a full listen.
