Hidden threats, impossible choices!

I really enjoyed Beneath the Ashes by Kenny Soward, brought to life in audio by Andrew Tell, who does a great job giving each character a distinct voice and emotional weight. The story pulls you into the aftermath of a catastrophic asteroid impact where Chris fights to protect her family, Nick struggles to find his way home, Gabby uncovers corruption inside a refugee camp, and Cha races to prevent another disaster. The tension of hidden threats, impossible choices, and the looming countdown to another deadly hit kept me fully invested from start to finish.

High-stakes survival with heart

Beneath The Ashes: After the Impact Book 3 really leans into the idea that surviving the apocalypse is only the beginning, and I appreciated how much this story focuses on what comes after the initial disaster.

The multiple character perspectives keep things interesting. Chris, Nick, Gabby, and Cha all bring something different to the table, and their storylines gradually weaving together adds a nice layer of tension. Chris’s struggle to protect her family feels especially grounded, while Gabby’s storyline in the refugee camp adds a darker, more complex edge to the plot.

The pacing is pretty intense for most of the book. There’s always something happening, whether it’s danger, tough decisions, or shifting alliances, and that keeps you turning the pages. The looming threat hanging over everything adds a constant sense of urgency that works well for the genre.

I listened to the audiobook version, and Andrew Tell absolutely elevates the experience. His narration adds depth to each character and really helps bring the tension and emotion to life. It made it even easier to stay immersed in the story.

That said, it can feel a bit heavy at times. With so many perspectives and ongoing conflicts, there are moments where the story slows slightly or feels a little overloaded with tension. If you’ve been following the series, though, it’s easier to stay invested since you already know the characters.

Overall, this is a gripping continuation of the series with strong emotional stakes and plenty of suspense. It’s a solid pick for fans of post-apocalyptic thrillers who enjoy character-driven survival stories with lots of twists and moral dilemmas, especially in audiobook form.

Circumstances Are Heating Up

I was as entertained by this book as much as the others in the series. My attention was grabbed from the opening paragraphs until the end as circumstances were becoming more dire as each day passed. Nick, Chris, Gabby, and Cha Joon were struggling with almost impossible odds within each of their challenges during the aftermath of the meteor strikes. Andrew Tell's narration was riveting as his performance kept my attention. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Waste of time

1st book was great but now we are just filling space with these barely relevant stories
