Really does feel like a true crime book.

I watch true crime content on YouTube. The BOOGEYMAN series is a must read for fans of Kendall Rae.

Moderately better than chasing the boogeyman

The story was more entertaining and not such a slog though but the narrator is still just as hard to listen to. Overall I enjoyed this one more than Casing the Boogeyman but I can't say I'll bother to listen to or read it again.

It's a fun ride

Let's get this out of the way, Becoming the Boogeyman isn't as good as Chasing the Boogeyman. The storyline is OK, and characters come and go without much development. The best parts of the book are the detail that goes into Chizmar's writing -- the tangents that make the story seem more "real", and the inner dialogue that Chizmar is constantly having with himself. Ultimately, this story is a long setup for the 3rd book that is forthcoming. If you read the first book, temper your expectations.

SUSPENSEFUL TO THE END! THE BOOGEMAN IS REAL

i loved this. i loved this continuing story. Joshua Gallagher is a sick twisted serial killer. I can't get his character and story out of my mind. the horror lingers still! He is written absolutely perfect. He gave me a feeling of dread everytime he had conversation with Richard!... i was shocked at how the story evolved. it just kept getting better and better. more complicated but interestingly so! and the narrator did a wonderful job. great cadence and tone . not overacted.. I am so excited there is another installment coming. i have grown to love the chizmars now. love Carly and the detectives. i really love knowing all the backstories! . but that Joshua. He is as compelling, horrifying and BELIEVABLE a character as was ever written. be afraid!!

One heck of a ride!

It is rare that a second book in a series can be just as good as the first, but Richard Chizmar has done it with "Becoming the Boogeyman". Same great storytelling as "Chasing....". You'll fall back into the story without a hitch. The only difference is, you won't have to Google the story, to see if it's real. Looking forward to the next.

(Simply) Amazing

At times, my heartbeat drowned out the narrator. A must read for anyone that loves murder mystery, thriller, and/or non-fiction crime.

5 stars to this gorgeously written rollercoaster! Beautifully narrated, with a rock-solid storyline, and filled with living, breathing, jump-off-the-page characters, this book is a must-read. Highly, highly recommend.
