Publisher's summary

From Amazon best-selling author SM Stryker comes an emotionally riveting, romantic suspense, about first loves, best friends, and second chances.

Could you ever believe in second chances? Have you ever wanted something so bad that when it's gone, you never forgot it? You longed for it; everything you do is in preparation to have it again, but this time you won't let it go.

As a child, Beckett was tormented by the one person that was supposed to love him unconditionally...but, that's only in fairy tales.

When the girl next door showed him there was more to life than what he's grown up knowing, he finds his solace in her; his first love, Harlow Girl.

But at 12, he's forced to move, and in a fit of rage, his mother spitefully and viciously destroys all his belongings including all of Harlow Girl's contact information, inevitably losing all contact with her.

Breaking his promise.

The only thing he has to live and strive for is her. Everything he does in his life is for her. To maybe find her again and make her his.

But this isn’t a fairy tale…or is it?

This is book one of a four book series

Order of books:
Beckett - Beckett and Harlow's Story
Mitchell - Mitchell and Raven's Story
Carson - Carson and Charlie's Story

Excellent story!!!

I really liked this story! I loved Beckett from the beginning... his mother was horrible.. Harlow took great care of him, as well as her parents.

This is a good book.. I would recommend it to anyone.

Nicholas Donald Malcolm is a new narrator for me. His voice is pleasant. For me, however, the way he read the story was not as pleasant. It seemed like the reading was rushed. That was difficult for me.

Love sometimes hurts and sometimes heals

In true second chance fashion the tale of Beckett and Harlow starts off with Harlow becoming Beckett's savior when childhood abuse becomes too much to deal with on his own. Next comes their separation and moving on with their own lives always missing their other half. And ends in a heart warming fashion filled with action, suspense, drama and honest emotions. I can honestly say I was locked in from the beginning and held my breath through most of the storyline. Nicholas Donald Murphy brought the characters to life and made the story very entertaining. Second chances always mean more when the characters are so lovable and true. Cannot wait for more in the series.

Harlow & Beckett

There is nothing better than a second chance romance where the couple has known each other since childhood. Beckett met Harlow when he was 6, and with a mother who could care less about him was taken under the wing of his friend Harlow and her family. When he was uprooted, and eventually lost touch, their childhood love for each other did not die. Now that they are reunited, will that spark still be there? I loved this book from start to finish. It starts out heartbreaking when we hear about Beckett and I wasn't sure where this was going to go. Beckett is a little dark, and has some issues, but you can't help but want to fix him up. He is broken, yet lovable. Harlow is a rock for him, though there are times I was completely frustrated by her. I did love her personality and loving way she loved him, both as a child and as a man. There are some complex problems, they need to overcome, as in SM Stryker fashion, she adds a little suspense to give your heart that thrill. It's a great listen.

This is my first listen by Nicholas Donald Malcolm and I loved his voice. He has a deep, rich sound and is wonderful as Beckett. He can be emotional and strong at the same time. He also switched between male and female voices with ease and made the listen very enjoyable.

Awesome Story & Audible Listen🎧Beckett💘Harlow Girl

I loved everything about this audiobook, from S.M. Stryker’s fabulous writing style to the story and characters she created to Nicholas Donald Malcolm’s narration. This story is realistic and it grabbed both my heart and attention right from the start and held it straight to end. I first met Beckett in Mitchell, the second book and I was intrigued by him and wanted to learn more about him. This book starts off in his younger years, at four years old he had already learned to fend for himself. His saving grace was Harlow, the girl next door, the two became best of friends and her family took him under their wings. Harlow’s Dad was awesome to him, saw the goodness in Beckett and how smart he was. Beckett was sad when he found out he would be moving away, he and Harlow shared a special bond and they promised each other to always stay in touch. But his abusive mother ruined all that for him with her actions and he was not able to hold true promise and the two fell out of touch. My heart broke for Beckett, his terrible home life and then to have a rough time in school, being picked on. Things start looking up for him, he worked on getting stronger and then landing a job with Richard. Beckett never stopped thinking of Harlow, he even tried to find her but never could. But it turns out she was closer than he thought and they find their way to each other again. Only problem is Harlow comes with trouble. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is well plotted with plenty of drama, action, a bit of angst, some twists and turns, thrilling suspense, some heartbreaking moments, heartfelt ones and an awesome romance and second chance to live and love. This story runs concurrently with Mitchell’s so it was great seeing those characters again. Thank you S.M. Stryker for another terrific story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

Nicholas Donald Malcolm is a talented narrator and voice artist. He brings the characters to life giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. He does a great job projecting the characters emotions and the drama of the story into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for a great listen🎧

Second chance at love

Young love lost then reconnected years later. Is it possible for that love to still be there and grow? A great listen.

second chances

This book starts out in characters' childhoods and gives insight up front about how and why certain situations occurred.

Good character and story development.

Did have to get used to the pacing of the narrator... it is well done, but I felt it started out a little rushed. Didn't stop the enjoyment once I got acclimated.

Heartbreaker

This is such a heartbreaking story. Beckett as a child is treated worse than awful my his mother. Even at school he is bullied until Harlow starts protecting him. They become best friends. He is even treated well by Harlow’s family. Then his mom’s situation causes them to move. He loses touch with Harlow. A few major things happen to both of them before they reconnect. SPOILER ALERT: The only problem I have with this story is I don’t think any abused child ever outgrows those feelings. I don’t think any reason excuses the abuses to the point the child understands and forgives. Other than that part this is a good story. I feel Nicholas Donald Malcolm the Narrator brought the story to life. I really enjoy audio’s because of the added sense of the characters a good Narrator can bring out in a story. I look forward to the next book in the series. I was given a free copy and this is a voluntary review.

second chance romance

Beckett and Harlow were childhood friends. Beckett moved away at age of 12. Both were heartbroken vowing to keep in touch. one day in a violent rage, his mom got rid of one way or another his phone and computer. As adult Beckett never forgot about Harlow, always trying to find her. This is a second chance romance with dangerous stalker.
Nicholas Donald Malcolm narration is very good. I was gifted this audio book and offered my honest review.

a little whiny

maybe it wasn't best on audio. they sounded all overly whiny. I think read from the book where we can inflect our own voice and tone, it would have been better. overall story was ok.
