Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him “the bitter neighbor from hell”. But must Ove be bitter just because he doesn’t walk around with a smile plastered to his face all the time? Fredrik Backman’s novel about the angry old man next door is a thoughtful exploration of the profound impact one life has on countless others.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

loved it!
I loved watching this mystery come to a conclusion. one of my favorite things about it was that it wasn't just 1 mystery, but a few of them. it was almost like having multiple stories. I really love the characters. the narration was okay, although not as natural as I would have liked. you could tell she was reading and not just telling a story. the writing however makes up for that. once you get past the narrator the writing gets you lost in the story. I would definitely recommend this book!

Vienna new beginning
Beautiful Beginnings is a lovely mystery about reconciling the past to be with the one you love. Vienna has a triple mystery on her hand and one is to discover herself. I loved how the author combined three storyline effortlessly into one plot. The book is so descriptive that I must admit I had years in my eyes but a smile on my heart.
The book is well written and a joy to read. Karen Bachman is an absolute amazing narrator. I received this review copy at my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review here. This book is a must read for paranormal mystery lovers.

I truly enjoy Vienna Rossi books.
I enjoyed this book. It kept a quick pace, in there is not spots lagging, and had plenty of action. I really like that it doesn't focus on blood and guts but events that leave a lost soul behind and their feelings surrounding their loved ones involved in the events.
Karen Bachman does a great job with narration. She has a soft mesmerizing and soothing voice.

Lighthearted Cozy Mystery
I am enjoying the Vienna Rossi cozy mysteries, almost as much as I love Aggie Underhill. This series is lighthearted, fun, refreshing and totally entertaining. I really like the paranormal aspect to this series and Michelle Hollstein gives listeners a lovely break from real life with this cozy mystery series. Vienna Rossi and friends takes us on an adventure to help lost souls go on their way, of course this is after figuring out what they need accomplished so the ghosts can move on. I'm picky with what cozy mysteries I'll listen to because most authors repeat the same story just changing a few details. Ms Hollstein is a wonderful teller of tales. Her writings of Vienna Rossi and Aggie Underhill are cozy mysteries that I highly recommend to my friends. She's up there with Angela Pepper, Erin Johnson, Colleen Cross and few others. If you haven't checked out her cozies then you are missing out. The narration was very well done. Karen Bachman gives the characters their own voices and emotions and really brings the story to life.

Covers so much ground!
This one I really liked A LOT! The military reference made me smile.. The older gentleman at the Ball...the actually pretty good blind date..the Titanic..(Jack huh?!)...the pain and agony of love and loss...and then there was VEGAS! I laughed like crazy when characters from a whole different series of Michelle Hollstein books..suddenly made an appearance here! This had so much going on..I had to rewind a few times to be sure I was keeping up with it all. I still really enjoy the narration on this story. It am much more engrossed with the storyline than being frustrated with the narrator. I personally think that's a good thing! Give this a listen....and open your mind. I like the thought that I might have a spirit guide.

I like the story but I'm not too fond of the characters. Being that this is the second book in this series (the main characters are the same, the stories are different) I would like that Vienna would be a bit more accepting of her ability to see ghosts. Instead she's just as neurotic or even more so. She's always worrying about what others will think about her. Which, granted, is a valid worry but also a bit annoying if you're reading a paranormal mystery where the main character is supposed to help ghosts find peace and move on. I understand that Kim is supposed to be more open-minded and there to challenge Vienna and push her toward accepting her abilities but she just comes across as pushy and a bit bratty. Their friendship dynamic seems to be that Kim pushes Vienna until Vienna caves and leaves her comfort zone. It bugged me that it took until three quarters (or more) into the second book of a three-book series for Vienna to be comfortable with herself.
The narration was okay - not great, not terrible. Better than the first book where most of the women sounded like the stereotypical dumb blonde valley girl. I'm glad the narrator tones that down quite a bit.
I liked the story itself, especially a scene at the Marine Corps Ball (You'll know it when you read it). I liked the mystery of the ghost and how that played out. I'm interested to see where this series goes or if it's more of the same.
