Publisher's summary

“I can’t get the authorities involved in this,” he pleaded, his brows drawing together.

“I need you.”

When I got divorced and moved to the quiet Oregon countryside....
The last thing I expected was for a hot stranger to pound on my door, demanding I go with him in the middle of the night.
His sister-in-law’s in labor, and he swears she’s on death’s door.
The weirder part?
I’m not allowed to tell anyone what I’m about to see.
This has WTF written all over it, but I took an oath to help.
Looks like my cozy sweats, wine, and the remote will have to wait.
Even after delivering babies for decades....
Nothing could prepare me for this.
Good god, the kid is hairy.
And the ears, the eyes...they’re all wrong.
Because I didn’t just deliver a baby.
I delivered a freaking bear cub.
Apparently, these folks are shapeshifters.
And us humans aren’t supposed to know their secret.
Now, some of these bear-people want me dead.
That hunky stranger is now my bodyguard.
And we’ve gotten very close living under my tiny roof.
Am I ready to jump into a relationship with another man?
Especially one that can change into a bear?

Steamy shifter love scenes and an HEA inside! No cheating or cliffhanger in this standalone romance. Listeners 18+.

Bear's Midlife Midwife!

This is a good story and great addition to the "Fated Over Forty" series. The story is about bear shifter Tyler and Liz, a human. He is desperate to help his sister in law and seeks Liz's help. She was a mid-wife until her divorce and turned to healing. When she takes over to help she is needless to say shocked to see a non-baby delivered. This is an interesting and intriguing story. I love the interactions between the characters. The story is nicely developed with some suspense, surprises, distress and much more.

Awesome

This book grabs you from the very beginning, and keeps you glued to those pages till the end. I thought Liz was so amazing with all she did, delivering babies, helping those get over their pain. Tyler is the best bodyguard you’d ever want around. I loved the twists, surprises, passion, and intrigue. Such an amazing story, loved how it flowed from page to page, never a dull moment. I loved the narrator he made it feel as if you were there with the characters.

I Enjoyed It

**Audiobook Review 7/2/23-**

I read this ebook almost two years ago and had enjoyed it. (Original ebook story review below). I was happy to get the chance to listen to it on audiobook. This was narrated by D.C. Cole, whom I recently listen to narrate another of Meg Ripley's books in this series- "Alpha's Midlife Baby." I really enjoyed Cole's narration. It was easy to differentiate between the different characters' voices. Everything was spoken clearly and evenly. I thought he suited this book and- so far- this series. I look forward to more.

**Original Ebook Review 10/22/21-**

This book was a new way for someone to inadvertently learn that shifters exist. Liz was a midwife who closed her midwifery practice to instead be a reiki energy healer. One night a handsome man is pounding on her back door and needs her help as his sister-in-law is in labor but something is wrong and he thinks she may be dying. Unable to refuse, she goes with him. When he asks her to promise never to tell anyone what she will see, she became nervous and uneasy. But they arrive and Liz is able to successfully help deliver the baby. However instead of a human baby, a bear cub is born instead before it shifts into human form. She is shocked, and he explains they are shifters. But the clan greatly mistrusts a human knowing about them and some want to kill her to ensure their secret stays safe...

I enjoyed this book. 4 stars.

Wow! I’m a Midwife, I want a Tyler!

I listened to the novella and I liked it enough to get this book, it did not disappoint. The characters didn’t feel rushed and were well developed. I loved all the Reiki, as a former hospice nurse we used to offer that to our patients. So many feels n a few tears! ❣️

Troubled man

Truly enjoyed this story of Tyler and Liz. Though there was plenty of times I just wanted to punch Tyler in places to cause maximum damage lol. Liz’s character truly made up for the dislike I had for Tyler.

strong FMC

This is Tyler and Liz's story. Liz is a strong independent woman who had no idea about shifters until she met it head on. This introduced danger into Liz's life. Tyler is protective over Liz. Tyler is a character I am conflicted about. I wasn't his biggest fan through the majority of the story but he did grow on me. The narrator did a great job at having distinct voices but there were some words that kind of trailed off. Overall this is a great listen.

I like the midlife happiness

I likes the story but I hate the constant shutting of love down... I get why it happens but I hate that some take way too long to come to their senses.

Loved the performance as much as the story!

"My job is mostly just standing around and waiting for emergencies or for someone to need me."

Tyler rushes in to Liz's life, needing her midwife skills and help, never imagining the events her kind heart and willingness to help others would set in motion.

This done in one story embraces independence and self-reliance, but comes with a reminder not only that there is strength in numbers, but others can see things we can't, and can help us see things in another way.

I love the theme of healing in this story, and was intrigued by the use of Reiki.
