In the not-too-distant future, the United States loses its status as a world Superpower. With the military cut to a barebones level and American leaders focused solely on the nation's internal struggles, the door will open for new powers to emerge on the world stage. In the wake of this power vacuum, China and Russia begin to flex their military muscles and expand their dominance in the world. They have the most up-to-date technological innovations ready for battle: railguns, unmanned drone tank vehicles, exoskeleton suits, and cyber warfare.

Story
In an engagement that many had said was inevitable, the United States and China had exchanged opening shots. While conducting a Freedom of Operations mission, a US destroyer had been sunk by Chinese forces placed on a disputed man-made island. Twelve American sailors rescued from the waters were held captive by China, claiming them to be prisoners of war. In response, the United States mounted a rescue effort while also striking at the Chinese military installation. Fearing retaliation and to be in a position of strength, both countries sortied their fast-attack submarine fleets.

In April 1945, the Allies are charging toward Berlin from the west, the Russians from the east. For Hitler, the situation is hopeless. But at this turning point in history, another war is about to explode. To win World War II, the Allies dealt with the devil. Joseph Stalin helped FDR, Churchill, and Truman crush Hitler. But what if "Uncle Joe" had given in to his desire to possess Germany and all of Europe? In this stunning novel, Robert Conroy picks up the history of the war just as American troops cross the Elbe into Germany. Then Stalin slams them with the brute force of his enormous Soviet army.

Very Entertaining Series!
I must first say, I was not very happy with the way this series began, but I could not stop reading it. With all the twists and turns in this series, I had to go on to the next book.
The way this series is written, put’s the reader right there on the front lines. The devastation and counter strikes were riveting. It makes the reader understand what war really is. MADNESS!
A fantastic series. I highly recommending to readers of “What If” type books.

Flashpoint That never was, but could have been
Battlefield China is a nice tidy end to a grueling global conflict. I am sure every GI has brainstormed and thought of possible scenarios where we go to war with the the Chicoms. But here, this story actually had a conclusion to the conflict which seems reasonable and didn't end with the world getting nuked into the stone age. I am sure opinions vary on how it could have ended, I am glad it did have a conclusion.
The added benefit of the story is how Mr Rosone and Mrs Watson both gave us very human characters who did not have rosy endings at wars end. This goes to show they know vets and as I understand James Rosone served in the Army. The realism and the bitter pill of post conflict is very real. As a vet, I struggle with that missing purpose since I was medically retired.
My only issue is that I would have wanted to see the glimpse of the Chinese as well as Russian personalities on how they made out.
Still great story that could have easily been a mirror of our current world.

Attention to detail , candidate !
I stayed for the whole sixty some odd hours show.
* Up until book six the odds of surviving as an attack helicopter pilot were non-existent. Perhaps the author was aced out at the club one night. In any event ; clumsily overflying known or suspected target areas is widely understood to be unhealthy. No real mention of stand-off system/weapon usage described.
* Yes it is 2022 however the blatant pandering to the PC military was not only excessive but outside the realm of the plausible to the point of detracting from the storyline.
* Gee by golly wilikers shazam - Nowhere since Gomer Pyle has the absence of ANY profanity been so unrealistically obvious. Any vet will concede that certain expletives are used too often , however their complete absence leaves a huge annoying squeaky clean void that also detracts from the storyline. Add the formal use of rank as characters in a unit, under fire fire address one another.

As a Brit and ex soldier of 20+ years l identified with a lot from this series. It was an exciting journey with nail biting scenarios. I give the narrator credit with his heartfelt attempts at our dialects (and the Aussies). I did take a lot of the voice procedure as a tongue in cheek factor. All in I enjoyed the whole series. Awesome series
This review is of the series, not just this volume.
This has to be the best book series I have read in a long time. It is highly believable, detailed, and shows the war from many different angles. It needed all the volumes to get this level of detail over but at no time did it mean the book was slow. Action beautifully blended with story.
Also one of my favourite narrators.

An epic grand finale!
This conclusion definitely ends the series on a high note. With lots of action, detail and characters
The main characters and their factions have great roles in the story. I especially love how the Aussies get a good amount of attention. In fact, this might be the first story to depict a certain US plane.
I find this couple to be great authors with lots of more potential. Wishing you the best!
