Wow!! This book was everything that I was hoping it would be! This was such a heart wrenching story. Kari, the daughter of Alpha Carlos of the Bariloce Sector was tortured both mentally and physically beyond repair. The fact being that it was her father’s doing makes it even more tragic.

Learning to trust in anything or anyone is a difficult feet to accomplish for Kari, she is so broken. Her rescuer, Alpha Sven refuses to give up. He is so kind, caring and unstoppable. Will he be able to earn that trust and avenge Kari? You will have to read or listen to find out. You won’t be disappointed!

The narrators, as always did an amazing job especially Sarah who was very convincing as a broken omega. So good!

Triggers in this book but so good

First, there are triggers of abuse in past tense. Having read the book I thought I was prepared for the audiobook, and I was to an extent.
Having said that, this book will hit all of your emotions. Sven is the perfect match for Kari, not surprising if your a veteran of Ms Foss. He was patient, stern, loving, gently, all when Kari needed it. It was a perfect book for the X-Clan series.
I highly recommend reading the other books in the series first, or at least Winter’s Arrow because that’s where this story starts.
Such a good book

Love this series/ Omegaverse

I quickly became a Lexi Foss fan thanks to her Blood Alliance series, so stepping into the Omegaverse of the X-Clan and the various sectors was an easy (and addictive) transition. I absolutely love her writing style. Each book is packed with action, drama, romance, and plenty of spice. The last two books in the X-Clan series are my favorite so far. It’s a tough call between Kazek (from the previous book) and Sven (from this one) for who’s my favorite. These two are absolutely unstoppable. Lexi has a gift for writing deeply layered, "broken" characters who carry an inner fire that drives them toward healing and strength. Kari, the heroine in this story, is a prime example of that resilience. Sven’s care for Kari is seriously heart-melting. He’s sweet, patient, and incredibly gentle with her, giving her the time and space she needs to recover from the horrific abuse inflicted by her father. (Don’t worry! Justice is definitely served, and it is ice cold.)

Lexi’s worldbuilding is so interconnected that while the books can be read as standalones, I highly recommend reading them in order for the full experience. Do note: there are some trigger warnings. The series deals with dark themes, including omegas being drugged, trafficked, and abused by a power-hungry alpha. These are stories of survival, healing, and learning to love again, and the X-Clan heroes do not disappoint when it comes to righting those wrongs. The narration is top-tier. Kale Williams could read me the dictionary and I’d still swoon, while Sarah Puckett shines as always in perfectly capturing heroines who are both fiery and vulnerable. I highly recommend the X-Clan series! Start here before diving into the Blood Sector series for the best experience.

Painfully amazing

This novel was heart throbbingly good. It took me longer to get through this one because I had to get in the right mindset to process the emotional trauma that the heroine went through. And talk about a strong supportive mate. These two had chemistry. The vocals did the characters both justice and the ending left it open for new adventures. I can’t wait to read more!

Emotional Ride

What…a…ride.

Lexi has absolutely hit this one out of the park. And while emotional books can often fizzle with a whimper, this one goes out with a bang. In the best of ways.

This is dark. Incredibly dark. If you are triggered by sexual assault, this is NOT the novel for you. There is a warning up front, but note that if you can work past this trigger, it is an emotional journey that is so rarely found in romance/paranormal novels. Lexi truly extends her writing chops in this one, making it an exquisitely beautiful adventure.

Also, word of advise: while this is technically a stand alone, read Winter’s book first. It’ll make a lot more sense if you do. :)

Now - onto the performance - Kale Williams is always my favorite male narrator. He brings each voice to life, and makes every unique voice it’s own. Truly - Kale proves why he is Lexi’s go to voice.

But this audiobook isn’t about Kale’s performance. While awesome - Sarah Puckett is truly the master of all things in this one. She truly takes in the voice of our heroine, and owns every single emotion. It’s clear that she really allowed the character to take residence in her mind as she narrated, making me literally cry giant crocodile tears - first with heart breaking sorrow and then unbelievable relief and happiness. I have listened to so many of Sarah’s books that I can honestly say that if this isn’t her best performance to date, it’s pretty darn close.

Sarah - take a bow. You’ve earned it.

This deserves far more than a 5 out of 5, but since that’s as high as I can go let me just say; I’m debating going back to older reviews and lowering the star ratings for lesser books only because they don’t deserve to be on the same level as this book.

Good but not for the faint of heart, Triggers!

If you have any trauma from abusive relationships please don't listen. Yes, there is a HEA but getting there is heartbreaking, her life truly was a living hell! Love how he was there for her but he had to learn how to help her. The ending sets you up for V-Sector. Love, Love the narrators and the writing. YES, worth the credit!!!!!!

BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN

This story not only brought a tear to my eye it also made me laugh. This story was amazing and it was a joy to read

Deeply emotional, as well as hot and steamy

Wow, this one was heartbreaking. Kari is probably the most broken of any of the Omegas Lexi has written about in the X-Clan series. She’s been belittled and used and severely abused by everyone in her life, including her own father, who was probably the worst of everyone. When Sven (Mick) rescues her, she is confused and scared, and even more scared to hope. The thing is, Sven is pretty much exactly the perfect alpha for this beautiful, broken omega. He recognizes that she is dealing with trauma, even if he doesn’t understand exactly what that trauma was, and he is willing to give her space and time to trust him and heal. Since she is so unaccustomed to any level of kindness, she doesn’t how how to handle his behavior, and it creates confusion for both of them. As he helps her get past her demons and let him in to claim her and be there for her, it’s powerful.

There are a number of events that overlap with the events from the first 2 books - we are now getting the other pieces that were happening behind the scenes in those books, as well as different POVs for some of those events we did see, which is really quite awesome, and very interesting. We also get a sneak peek into another new series by this author, with a new type of clan and alpha, and I am very excited to see where those stories go….Hello, Killian! As usual, Lexi doesn’t disappoint with the steam, but this story isn’t about the steam, it’s really more of a bonus, which makes it an even better story.

The audiobook version of course doesn’t disappoint, as ever with Lexi’s books. Kale and Sarah are perfection, and only make this heart wrenching story even more so. This is one of those authors where I am never disappointed in the audio production of any of her books. Completely fantastic.

Sven and Kari💛

Amazing! Fantastic! I am so in love with this book. This is my favorite book so far out of this series. I love Sven. Right from the start he was sweet and understanding. He wanted nothing but Kari and to help her but with Kari's past it made it difficult for her to believe him. Kari was in such a bad place and with Sven's perseverance he helped her get ro a better place. I enjoyed Kerian from the V clan. I hope his story is next. I love how how these storylines connect and getting to see previous characters. I honestly can't say enough how much I love Sarah's and Kale's narrating. They never cease to amaze me.
