Publisher's Summary

I'm surrounded by dragons, and they're all afraid of me.

At the age of nine, I mistakenly touched someone else, giving him excruciating pain. Through that awful experience, I found out that a graze of my fingertips could torment any being with dragon blood. Because I was surrounded by them in my kingdom, my ability labelled me as cursed. And with that, my family lost everything.

I promised myself to never be shunned away again. That I had to be someone important for people to look up to. A crucial vote was coming up, and I would do anything to win it. Then I met them. Four hidrae princes, dragon-shifters of the most powerful kind, who were immune to my abilities. Being able to touch someone else was intoxicating. Associating with them was killing my chances of winning the vote, but the princes drew me in - Rylan with his regal demeanor, Micah with his mystery, Kael who threw all care to the winds...and Gaius? Gaius should just fall on his face and die.

Contains mature themes.

I loved this!!!

Oh my gosh, I didn’t think I would fall for this book as much as I did but holy macaroni did I ever! The voice actresses were perfect and sucked me in, causing me to laugh at times and cry as well. So good! I just wish book two was on Audible as well!

Narrator acts like it’s all a teenager sexy secret

Can’t get past the third chapter. The narrator is acting like the whole thing is some teenage sex dream. Annoying.

Unlikeable Characters

I made it partway through chapter 5 and quit. The story is somewhat Cinderella-esque with Sara being poorly treated by everyone including her family because of her curse, forced to clean latrines for little money. She works and studies hard and rises up the ranks in the intelligence field where she meets the princes. While Sara is a character that you can like and respect, the princes we're not. The grumpy one repeatedly insults Sara, and at one point demonstrates actual physical cruelty to another. He refers to Sara as lowborn filth. None of the other brothers call him out on this and when she defends herself she's mocked and told she must be respectful. At this point I'm done. I'm guessing they have a change of heart but I'm not sticking around. I can tolerate some jerkery if the characters have other redeeming qualities or somehow otherwise likeable but there was nothing I found likeable about them.

Whining teenage characters with no depth or story

I listen to about 2 books a week and all types. I have found a multitude of wonderful writers & performers. The reader can make or break a story. In this book the narration is worse than the writing! I tried multiple time to just ‘get through it to the good parts’ ,,,, but there are no good parts!

Annoying narrator

The narrator is a bit annoying, everything she says sounds like it’s being written in a secret diary or something. Probably won’t carry on with the series.
