Publisher's Summary

From best-selling author Melanie A. Smith comes the second book in a new series of steamy contemporary medical romance stand-alone novels about life lessons that break all the rules.

Even when you know better, sometimes it’s simply too tempting....

Hospital work isn’t for the faint of heart. Becca Dillon knows that firsthand, having worked as a medical assistant in the cardiac unit at Rutherford Hospital for longer than she cares to think about. What she does care to think about is having fun, gossip, and...guys. Her favorite of the three. And why stick to one, when you can sample them all?

That’s exactly her plan when a workplace crush on a mysterious bad boy orderly unexpectedly takes a very steamy turn. But Vincent DeMarco turns out to be nothing like she expected, and before she knows it, she’s falling hard and fast. She wants him in ways she’s never wanted anyone before, but there’s something he’s keeping from her. Something that’s holding him back. And Becca is going to find out what.

Even though she knows that bad boys don’t make good boyfriends, he seems like he might be so much more. Will her quest unlock the truth behind who he really is? Or will it end their relationship for good? Either way, ready or not, Becca’s world is about to change.

Solid 4.5 Stars!

This is the first audiobook that I’ve listened to that was from a single point of view but used both male and female narrators. That was different, but a good different. Really good!
Both narrators were very good and did the characters justice.
It was a bit difficult for me to get into this book at first, there was just so much high school style drama! But, once we got past the majority of that nonsense, it got really good! So good, I was constantly looking forward to running errands so I could keep listening!
One thing that really irked me was the use of “boo” and “bae.” Just no! It didn’t feel like it fit the character or story. Completely unnecessary, in my opinion. Otherwise, a fantastic story!

So nice I read it twice...

This is the second time I've read this book, and wow the audio really brought it to life! The narrators were perfect for the characters. Especially Rachel Woods, who embodied Becca's fun, snarky personality to a T. I caught myself laughing out loud in public several times! I liked the dual narration. Sometimes in a romance book, the woman just deepening her voice for the man's parts can really kill the vibe. Jake Bordeaux brought the fire. ‎️‍🔥‎️‍🔥‎️‍🔥

More than a bad boy meets good girl narrative, this is a story about how judging people by the stereotype they seem to fit at first glance doesn't lead anywhere good. I love Melanie A Smith's heroines. They are smart, complex, hard working girls who just deserve the world, and I enjoy reading about their lives, their trials, and how they overcome them. Oh, and the romance is ALWAYS on point! :))))))))))

I loved it!

A great romance read! I love books and shows in a hospital setting, so that was an added bonus for me. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and I LOVED that there was both a female and male narrator. That made the book all the more enjoyable for me. I also didn't realize there was a book one, so it could definitely be read as a stand-alone. I would love to listen to book #1 next!

Quick fun story

This stand-alone romance puts the bad boy idea on its ear. The story is told from Becca's point of view, so Rachel Woods takes all the narration and ladies' dialogue. Jake Bourdeaux takes all the dialogue for the guys. It was fun and made it sound like a radio play.

The story itself is about Becca who's had an active dating life, but she's done with going through men like tissue. She wants Vincent, but she assumes he's a no-good bad boy. Since the story is told through her very opinionated point of view, he really does look like a cretin sometimes. But unlike other romances, these two do actually talk it out. We often find that Becca's impression of things isn't the whole truth. By the way, the two leads have scorching sexual chemistry.

This can be read/heard on its own, but it's good enough that I wanted to know about the other characters in this series. It's a fun book for those who like contemporary romances in a medical setting or with a distinctive character voice.

Great and easy listen!

Dear author - Thank you for this opportunity to enjoy your book in audio.

If you are looking for great and easy listen, this is a book for you. Typical young adult drama after drama, but it makes the book go by very brisk. The main characters have depth and personality, so the story was enjoyable.

bad boy

I did enjoy listening to the dual narration of Rachel Woods and Jake Borders. I thought both perfect for this great book.

Becca is one hot sassy female. She knows what she wants.

Oh Vincent is mysterious, and the markings of one hot bad boy.

Neither of them wants to be in a relationship, and both are very attracted to the other.

One steamy relationship, begins, with both of them having their own secrets.

This book has drama and hot scenes.

A good listen.

Review

I really enjoyed this book and I rate it a 4. I really loved the chemistry between the characters and the story itself. The narrators did a great job and made it a smooth and easy listen.

I docked it because I felt like we were left hanging at the end 😭. I wanted an epilogue, I wanted to see Vincent meeting her family and them together as a little family with Elijah.

First impressions!

Bad Boys Don't Make Good Boyfriends was a very enjoyable listen. I absolutely loved the characters and their growth. The storyline is engaging, charming, and entertaining. Becca and Vincent were genuine, and the way they connected was so natural; they related on an intellectual level, emotional, and physical. Rachel Woods and Jake Bordeaux did an outstanding job with the narration. They captured the nuances of the characters' personalities, breathing life into them. This was a fantastic listen, one I very much enjoyed.

Hospital Drama and Romance

This story features characters from Never Date a Doctor, the previous book in the series. While it is a workplace romance, the characters are still sowing their wild oats, partying and generally being young. Despite that, both Becca and Vincent have a hidden depth that is explored in this story and actually give the story more drama and depth. The story somehow successfully straddles the line between simple and complex which makes it a whole lot more interesting. I just wish it was a little longer so that there were more opportunities to explore how the protagonists' relationship develops.
