Cute kids...

This is book 3 in the series but it's the first one that I've listened to. I didn't feel like I was missing anything so this can be listened to as a standalone.

It was a bit cliche at times. The whole relationship seemed a bit forced, they really didn't interact much with each other. I didn't like how Tootsie and Miles came together in the end. While the very end is sweet the rest of the book isn't and the ending feels like it was just shoved on to the end it didn't evolve from the rest of the story.

We didn't learn much about the characters, there was no real development, and there was little to no growth during the book.

The blurb shows a lot of potential but none of it was realised. The book is OK if you're prepared to ignore the glaring plot holes.

The narrator did a good job with the character voices, the delivery was well-paced and nice to listen to

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. .

Baby Kisses

Baby Kisses is such a sweet clean romantic story. Tooty is a very strong young woman who has had her share of challenges in her young life, but she never let that stop her. At 20 years old, she’s doing her best to support herself and her 4 year old son. She takes a job as a personal assistant for a reclusive author, and at almost the same time finds out she’s received an inheritance from a distant relative. I loved how the secrets revealed in her inheritance seem to parallel her own life.

Beautifully written and beautifully narrated.

Beautiful Story

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. Right off the bat the story grabbed me and kept me listening until it's conclusion. The narrator made the story come alive and created the atmosphere that I believe the author intended. I loved how she wove the story around two lives that were not perfect but were meant to be together. I also enjoyed that she wrote about a physically challenged individual who overcame this in the end/. At first, he accepted his disability but not in his mind. The heroine helped him to understand how to love. This was a beautifully written story. Loved the whole concept. This story caused me to use a credit to get the next book in the series. This was book three and I missed the first two but will listen to the next one.

Left me smiling

Cute story with an adorable kid and a young mother who has her sights set on an older man. He feels to old for her and because of his age and the fact that he's in a wheelchair he pushes her away until she convinces him there is nothing wrong with a May December relationship.
I could find nothing wrong with this story, the sex scene is tame and the characters lovable.

Jennifer Jill Araya does a wonderful narration. she helps bring the characters to life.

May December Romance Author and Single Mother and Son

Tooty (usual name) is a single mother, a mother at 16, she is sweet, intelligent and straight forward. She became pregnant by a guy who left her alone to raise her son..who is 4 now.
Mile is a famous author from NY who is writing at a remote Colorado house and hires Tooty as his assistant. Mile is about 18 years older and in a wheelchair.
I loved the new way the May December was portrayed, the difference in their lives..their pasts, the honesty in their relationship ... how their families are with them...the way an inheritance and diary change their lives, Tooty’s in particular...sweet...children...friends...wonderful story and fantastic narrator...narrator did a great job in the voices, emotions, timing, pacing...perfect!

Different

This is a romance with a difference, in that the main female character is 19 and the romantic interest is 38. I liked it because it is different and actually it reflects life a bit more (in the age gap). However, where people with this age gap tend to do it for the money in this case it is to do with love. Also this is set in the late 80s since the main character had to be shown how to use an email.
Another reviewer called this a sweet romance and well I can tell you it is not. There is a sex scene but it is not graphic. There is no violence and I can't remember if there was any profanity.
Some might actually like it. It is not the best that I have read/listened to but I wouldn't mind listen or reading this authors other books.

Pretty Good, but No Spark

I thought the story was cute. But, the relationship between Miles and Tooty fell flat. She seemed way too young and the chemistry between them never felt more than a friend or brother. Honestly, I enjoyed the sub-story of the journal and the mystery surrounding it.

This is the first story I have read by Ms. Clay. I'm not in a hurry to pick up another. I did visit the author's website and see the series builds from book to book. Perhaps the author really depends on the reader starting from book 1. Even knowing this, the characters of Tooty and Miles are still very 1 dimensional. There wasn't a lot for the reader to bite into to really get to know either character. Why was Miles in his wheelchair? I know it was a car accident but no details. What in the world did Tooty see in her one-night stand? I think it would have been worth it for the author to take more time in telling us the full story of these characters.

I have not heard other narrations by Ms. Araya. She did a nice job. She has a nice range. I would like to hear her perform a YA title. Her voice was perfect for Tooty. (and the children)

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author/narrator. This review was voluntarily left by me.

Who Loves You Baby

Baby Kisses
: Verna Clay

A sappy sweet story of two people that probably should never even consider a relationship, or it could be that opposites really do attract.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Jennifer Jill Araya.

My first one!

I have never listened to Verna Clay and I am glad to have taken the chance! This is the story of Tooty, a 20 year old woman with a 4 year old son. She is determined to make the best of it, and when she is looking for a job meets Miles, an author that she admires. As his assistant, she is able to work and spend time with her son. Miles is 38 years old, so there is no chance of a romance....or is there? found the story an easy listen and the underlying theme of love no matter the circumstance is beautiful. The inclusion of Annabelle's diary makes this romance all the sweeter. Hearing Eli and Annabelle's story is a bonus! I will now go back and listen to the first two in the series, I have to hear the other couples who find their romance on the ranch!

This is my first narration by Jennier Jill Araya and I found her voice appealing. She is talented, keeping her pacing and her voices are easily identifiable. I hope to see more from her in the future.

A Feel-Good, Sweet and Sassy Romance!

I liked this book. A single 20-year old Mom. A wheelchair bound successful author. A four year old munchkin with no filters. A recipe for romance.

Of course this audiobook isn't that boring, simple or obvious. There is a lot to be said about the details and this plot is definitely rich in details.

Verna Clay's Romance on the Ranch series is very sweet but it also focuses on unconventional relationships. There is often an age difference that seems insurmountable or some sort of emotional baggage that threatens to cripple the relationship. But don't worry, a HEA is promised and Verna Clay definitely delivers!
