Epic Carnage

I enjoyed the system they have implemented. very much have given me some terrible plans for my D&D group with some of the comedy thats sprinkled into the Dark Fantasy side. The story follows some of the truth that would actually happen in the world setting

Unapologetically horrifying

The story so far is awesome, Neil Thorne did wonderfully with the voices, and the way that Vrax makes things that sound cool until you actually imagine them in front of you, is excellent. Can’t wait to see more from Jollybane!

Madness just madness

A horror monster maker and kind guy all rolled into one. Dark and gritty and a bit insane. Will certainly buy the next.

Oh and Duchess had me laughing my rear off.

equally horrifying and adorable

just need to get past the first 3 chapters this story is fantastic it's darkly funny and weirdly adorable. the fluffy horrors are my favorite they are so cute one minute and horrifying the next and I'm here for it we need more! the world building is good and the story has a nice flow easy to follow along. one of the best story's I've listened to in a l9ng time.

A really great read

This was great, I love a good evolution/creature crafting type situation and this did it in a really awesome way.

Let’s start with narration, it was well done. Neil did an excellent job as he always does, initially I was mistaken and thought he was a new narrator I hadn’t listened to before, but then after doesn’t checking I saw I was wrong. He’s actually one of my favorites that I regularly listen to.

Worldbuilding and magic system were interesting, engaging, had some nice twists and fresh takes. I really like the idea of how the skills and the statues work. I like how each part of the world, both places and people, that we experience feel like they’re all part of one world but each individual area and person/group of people is different enough in all the ways that make sense to really show that’s it’s not just one monolith to a world.

Plot and pacing were pretty good. Kept me interested, nothing revolutionary there but it doesn’t need to be to be good.

The actual writing technique was great, I didn’t find too many repeating words or phrases, descriptors could’ve been a little more prominent in some places but that’s with me nitpicking. I think the main character uses the f bomb a lot, at least for my taste but there are people that do that so I wouldn’t say that’s an issue with the writing or anything.

The fights, action scenes and magic are chefs kiss good. Each fight feels either immediately decisive which shows off the power gaps or they’re the perfect length, showing just the right amount of struggle.

As you can tell I recommend it and loved the book, I can’t wait for the next one. It’s just an all around great read, everyone reading this review should pick it up
