Open a gate. Take a breath. Step inside the moment.

In 52 Gates, Rabbi Ben Newman invites listeners on a year-long journey through the inner landscape of awakening. Each reflection is a doorway — a brief, luminous meditation on love and loss, stillness and change, presence and wonder.

Blending the clarity of mindfulness with the soul of Jewish mysticism, Newman writes in language that feels both timeless and startlingly modern. His words speak to the part of us that longs to slow down, to live honestly, to remember that peace isn't somewhere else — it's right here, in the breath, in the body, in the space between thoughts.

These pages are meant to be savored slowly — one gate each week, or whenever life asks you to pause. Whether you're seeking calm amid uncertainty, inspiration for your spiritual practice, or simply a reminder that you are not alone in the human experience, 52 Gates offers a path back to presence and wholeness.

Gentle, profound, and endlessly re-listenable, this is a companion for the contemplative heart — a book to keep on your nightstand, to return to whenever you need light.

I've been reading the book for a while now with a friend, one piece a week as the title suggests. What I have to say here doesn't reach where Newman's pieces touch. These are gates to my own world that lead to places I hadn't seen and yet recognize immediately as I hear his words. The audiobook offers for a new way to engage, with the cadence and intentionality of the spoken work allowing for a deeper connection.

I love this book.
