Come along for an unforgettable ride with beloved comedian and podcaster Roz Hernandez, as she spreads transgender joy across the country on an epic fifty-show summer road trip tour. This one-of-a-kind audiobook blends memoir with exclusive audio from Roz's stand-up and behind-the-scenes moments from her life on the road.

Over 13,000 miles behind the wheel. Fifty standup comedy shows. One funny transgender lady on an epic summer adventure.

Roz Hernandez should be more famous. She thinks so, anyway. The problem is, she needs more of the right people to know who she is. And in a deeply divided country where transgender people are under constant attack, Roz—all 6'1" of her, usually dressed in rhinestones, feathers, and platform boots—sometimes feels as though her very existence is too controversial for the masses.

When she found herself with an empty calendar and a refusal to put her dreams on hold, Roz decided to spend the summer of 2025 looking for the people who will truly get her, performing stand-up in the most magical places across America she can think of: gay bars. Oh, and since she couldn’t afford a private jet or even a tour bus, she was going to drive herself across the country to do it. Alone. What could go wrong?

Peeing in an Empty Bottle tracks Roz's hilarious, heartfelt journey from iconic LGBTQ+ venues like New York City's Stonewall Inn to off-the-beaten-path spots that this Hollywood diva never thought she would find herself in. With a tape recorder in hand, Roz documents all the highs and lows, talks to fellow queer performers and venue owners that she meets along the way, and checks in with her own friends and family back home. This immersive memoir includes exclusive material from Roz's stand-up comedy shows, where she attempts to unite people the only way she knows how: laughter.

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Hernandez brings the laughs with this lively and timely audio original memoir."
"Hernandez describes what it's like being a transgender comedian today, a time when, she notes, it's difficult to be trans in America. Her narration is funny, theatrical, and at times exaggerated as she emphasizes the value of humor in helping a wider audience relate to trans people. She describes her family background and how she came to comedy as well as life on the road as a stand-up comedian. The audio production includes recordings of Hernandez’s live performances and conversations with family, friends, and members of queer communities in various cities sharing their experiences in the current political climate."
Praise for Roz Hernandez

“Roz is the heroine you need to see in this terrible and trying time! Her voice is essential, hilarious, profane and profound! She is my drug.” (Margaret Cho)
“I toured with Roz and I could say a lot about her, but I'll just say that she is hilarious. I won't comment on her personality." (Bob the Drag Queen)

I’ve been listening to Roz Hernandez’s Ghosted! podcast for years, so I already knew I liked her. That’s what made me pick up Peeing in an Empty Bottle. I expected it to be funny, and it absolutely was, but what I didn’t expect was how much more I’d come to appreciate her by the end.

Yes, it’s hilarious. Roz has a way of finding humor in situations that most people wouldn’t even know how to talk about. But what really stayed with me were the stories about what it’s actually like to travel the country as a transgender comedian.

She talks honestly about how scary it can be to exist as a trans person in today’s America, especially while performing in places where you have no idea how you’ll be received. She also reflects on being connected to places that have experienced unimaginable tragedy, like Pulse in Orlando. She wasn’t there during the shooting, but having performed there and knowing those spaces gave those stories a lot of emotional weight.

I also loved hearing about the different queer communities she encountered along the way..from tiny LGBTQ+ bars tucked away in the Deep South, where just staying open feels like an act of courage, to places like Provincetown, where being unapologetically yourself is the norm. Those stories gave me a perspective I hadn’t really thought about before. They reminded me that queer life in America isn’t one experience…it’s a thousand different experiences depending on where you are.

I’ve listened to Ghosted! for years, but this audiobook made me feel like I finally got to know the person behind the podcast. She’s funny, thoughtful, selfaware, and incredibly easy to root for. I even laughed when I found out she’s 6’1” because I had never pictured her being that tall.

The other thing that really stood out to me was her work ethic. She’s constantly creating, producing, touring, and making things happen on her own. You can tell she’s worked incredibly hard to build the career she has, and after listening to this book, I respect her even more.

If you’re already a fan of Roz, don’t hesitate…get the audiobook!. And if you’ve never listened to Ghosted!, this is a fantastic introduction. It’s funny, heartfelt, honest, and surprisingly moving. I finished it feeling like I’d spent a few hours with someone I’d be happy to sit down and have a drink with
