When a shocking crime occurs, people ask “Why?” Was it about power, ego, or revenge? On Killer Psyche, retired FBI agent Candice DeLong draws on her decades of experience to reveal why these murderers and criminals committed these heinous acts. She will reveal fascinating new details about what drove these people, including cases she was close to. Candice will share specific psychological methods and profiling techniques that experts use to understand the deepest part of the most complex, fascinating, and twisted minds, from the Unabomber to Alex Murdaugh to Mary Bell. Winner of the 2025 Bronze Signal Award for True Crime podcasts.

  • Lindsay Clancy
    Sep 15 2026
Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong explores the disturbing case of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts labor and delivery nurse who strangled her three young children: five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson, and eight-month-old Callan, before attempting to take her own life. On the surface, January 24th, 2023 looked like an ordinary Tuesday: a doctor's appointment, kids playing in the snow, a family running errands. Twenty-five minutes later, it was a crime scene. In the months before that night, Lindsay's family watched her unravel under a rapidly worsening psychiatric condition, even as she kept seeking help and cycling through new prescriptions. Drawing on her own decade as a psychiatric nurse before the Bureau, Candice examines the excruciating question at the center of the case, whether Lindsay Clancy is a criminal or a woman consumed by severe postpartum mental illness; and why, twenty-five years after Andrea Yates, America is still struggling to tell the difference.Audible subscribers can listen to all episodes of Killer Psyche ad-free right now. • Lori Vallow Daybell
    Sep 8 2026

Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong explores the disturbing case of Lori Vallow Daybell, the Idaho mother whose apocalyptic religious beliefs concealed the murders of her own two children. For months, nine-year-old JJ Vallow and seventeen-year-old Tylee Ryan were missing, and Lori offered the world nothing but shifting stories and eerie calm. Behind her, an inner circle of relatives, self-styled prophets, and her new husband had convinced each other that the people closest to them were consumed by evil spirits, and that removing them was salvation, not murder. But beneath the couple's Rexburg property, the truth was buried in shallow graves. Candice examines how doomsday theology, love bombing, and a trail of sudden deaths built the psychological architecture for one of the decade's most chilling family crimes, and why, even after conviction, the full scope of what ""Doomsday Mom"" believed still unsettles investigators.

  • Luigi Mangione Pleads Guilty: What Happens Now? - A Conversation with Josh Ritter
    Sep 8 2026
Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong breaks down the stunning legal turn in the case of Luigi Mangione, the man who admitted to shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan sidewalk in December 2024. After 21 months of pleading not guilty in every courtroom, Mangione stood before a federal judge and confessed -- with no deal, no agreement, and no promises from prosecutors seeking life in prison. Candice is joined by former Los Angeles prosecutor and legal analyst Josh Ritter to unpack why a defendant would plead guilty to everything and get nothing in return, whether New York's double jeopardy laws can shut down a separate state murder trial, and what this case reveals about a country increasingly willing to celebrate an admitted killer as a folk hero.Audible subscribers can listen to all episodes of Killer Psyche ad-free right now. This lady was so very talented & important to me as a younger gal. She wasn't more than 5'+ aced her training. She got to work with THE ACTUAL FATHERS PROFILING & assisted in finding, prosecuting, charging & interviewing of some of the truly more amazing minds of killers all over this great country. I like her voice when she's casually speaking more however her professional voice, it's quite well trained & has her signature no nonsense tone along with how her training seemed to kick the volume up a notch when it was crunch time. In her 70s still just as incredible! Yes any studying on the subject would benefit from listening to her cases. Thank you Ms. Delong so very much as usual, sincerely.

I appreciate the detailed history of the person behind the crime. Certainly there is no excuse for any of their crimes, but the patterns of these murderers is clear and useful for understanding of what leg them to that moment.
