From politics to deception to war, Redacle is facing grave danger—and the friends who created it are the only ones who can save it—in this dark fantasy.

During their brief time in Redacle, the formerly weak, frightened, altogether unimpressive Shango, Solitaire, and Beam have developed into capable mercenaries. They now find themselves commanding armies, cutting through enemies, and negotiating war chests. None of it would be possible without Solitaire's weapons-making skills. Guns, cannons, bombs, and advanced armor; in the grimdark fantasy world of their imagination, these tools have given the trio a leg up. But their power hasn't gone unnoticed—or unchecked.

Lord Viras, a disciple of Magus Azelis, is the most legendary and fearful name known throughout Redacle, and he's eager to convince the kingdom's newest heroes to join his ranks. However, Shango, Solitaire, and Beam aren't quite as eager to partner with the powerful magus, especially once it becomes clear Viras intends to lay siege to the entire town of Elswick to get what he wants. When Solitaire is kidnapped by a band of orcs, Shango and Beam are left with an impossible task: protect their new home against its most powerful enemy...without the help of their star weapons engineer.

Good third book, while I feel like the escalation of just setting up in a new city to fighting one of the strongest mages in the world who controls a large army was a bit fast considering how recently the main characters got out of poverty and just got themselves established, I dont really mind some exponential growth as long as the main characters earn it.

Great continuation
