Surviving Aliens and an Ice Age

Devin moved to a small island town in Alaska for a fresh start. Now, his quiet life has turned into a fight for survival against plunging temperatures and an extraterrestrial invasion.

With hostile aliens and failing technology, he must quickly learn to harness the nanotechnology he now controls to build settlements and save his adoptive hometown from the new threats.

On a timer and facing dropping temperatures and morale, Devin must gather allies, master his control over the new technology, and create nano-powered settlements that can survive the looming ice age. With humanity’s very existence at stake, he’s learning to balance competing priorities while saving as many people as possible.

The stakes are high, and he must fight, level, and build to keep his corner of southeast Alaska alive in the first book of this city-building GameLit survival series.

This is the sort of book that I love to read in between books focused on OP leveling and non-stop combat.

The base building is fantastic as Devin struggles to save as many lives as he can before the coming ice age. Now, with the new perks Devin has received, I'm excited to find out what new options he will have going forward.

I wasn't familiar with Brad Derry, but he did a fantastic job narrating the story and has a good range of voices to separate characters and let you relax into the story.

This book really sets itself apart from other base-building novels, as it focuses on modern day Earth in a scarily possible future. (Probably not the aliens, but eventual climate change.)

Highly Recommended!! A solid 15/15, and I can't wait for the next one!

Fantastic Base Building!

A town builder LitRPG book that’s actually focused on town building and how it relates to the protagonist. Well done.

A great town builder science fiction story.

This reads more like being told about numbers than building characters and a plot. I prefer more character depth and plot line.

Dry writing

One of the stupidest protagonists ever. Whiny and a doormat too.

The supporting cast are little better.

I dropped this story half way through, right when Devon was being particularly useless and whiny.

Nice idea basing your survival on a form energy generation (windmills) that's completely nullified by the oncoming ice age btw. Good thinking! /s

you have magical nano tech, but geothermal power (that solves heating and energy both) is a step too far?

I just didn't find this enjoyable at all.

Not great
