Science or Spirituality - What created Awakened?

Changing direction slightly from the first book, we now have a group of empowered young adults all questioning their origins and purpose. It starts to feel like the TV show Heroes, in a good way (not that one awkward season during the Hollywood writers' strike). With a few outside sources starting to get involved, our Awakened characters learn more about themselves and each other. Yet, not everyone agrees on the next steps. And some abilities come with a cost not all are willing to bear. Narration by Andrew Baldwin is appropriate for the story, and keeps our attention while listening. The encounters and choices each Awakened goes through provide a sometimes unsettling yet illuminating answer to deep questions. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.0x.]

The mystery. Who are they really

They have a very unique abilities, yet where do they come from? Is it safe to use them? Each question just creates more questions with no answers. Will they solve who they are? Why their here, and even worse what will they find? Will It be salvation or will it be worse. But good or bad they will stick together. Great sequel. Book 3 promises to be even better

Didn’t Quite Come Together for Me

Book two digs a bit deeper into the story and the individual gifts, which I really appreciated. There’s a lot of detail and creativity here, though I do wish it had come together a little more smoothly. I didn’t fully connect with the characters this time, but the premise still has plenty of potential, and I’m hopeful the next book will build on these ideas. It didn’t quite grab me, but it was still an interesting listen overall.
