overall good time killer.

Overall good filler if nothing else new to listen to. Biggest gripe I had was the constant need to tell me that the characters were "bantering". That doesn't need to be stated. It's like me saying I've left a review at the end of a review.

This was a throwaway purchase because monster evolution litrpg are still fairly uncommon in my experience, but I was genuinely surprised. Most of the characters in the main cast had a good amount of development, the main character is competent and makes sensible choices for the most part, and the progression system having Levels, Skill Proficiency, Cultivation, and Racial Evolution is a lot of numbers and a lot to enjoy trying to predict his direction of growth if you’re like me and enjoy the game aspects most.
Overall- worth the credit for sure, and it’ll be added to my list of series to keep an eye on. With that-

Great character building

I enjoyed this tale and the world development. I felt for the characters and wanted to see how they grew.

I really wanted to like this, and I partly did.

I have been looking for a good monster MC LitRPG, and I am quite willing to try and enjoy almost anything in that genre. This book starts out very well. It has a solid idea, an interesting main character, and some genuinely good events.

Unfortunately, after a while, I began to notice inconsistencies in the text and writing that made parts of the story feel very AI-assisted. The writing style seemed to shift, certain ideas were repeated several times in slightly different ways, and some of the dialogue became more formal or unnatural than it had been earlier in the book. There were also details and names that did not always seem consistent with what had come before.

I do not personally mind an author using AI as an assisting tool. What matters to me is that it is used carefully, with continuity, consistency, and enough editing that the story still feels coherent. Here, it sometimes felt as though sections may have been expanded or rewritten without enough attention being given to the details already established in the story.

I cannot say for certain how the book was written, and I do not think the entire story was simply generated by AI. The overall plot and progression seemed to have a real direction behind them. However, the subtle inconsistencies gradually became difficult for me to ignore, and eventually they took me out of the story enough that I could not finish the book.

That is disappointing because there really is a solid story underneath these problems. The book has an excellent start, a strong premise, and several ideas that I genuinely enjoyed. The narration was also superb and did a great deal to carry the experience.

I really wanted to like this, but details matter and when things don't remain consistent, it can be distracting to the enjoyment of a story.
