Devious games. Dark obsessions. And a campus king determined to break me.

The Sacred Sons are University royalty, and the most vicious pricks on campus. They're as beautiful as they are cruel.

And him. He's their leader. Their twisted king, who's chosen to make me his personal property.

Roman Rush.

The more I fight him, the more he tightens his grip. I want to be left alone, to disappear into the shadows. But when my best friend goes missing, I'm pulled into a world full of dark secrets—a world where Roman reigns supreme.

I need his help, but around here, nothing comes for free.

And the price Roman is demanding? It's me, body and soul.

This is a dark academia college romance. This is the first book in a four-book series, following the same couple, and does end on a cliffhanger. Contains mature content. A complete list of content warnings can be found on the author's website.

I wanted to like it so I listened to the end. Idk lux and roman are interesting. It’s hard to listen to her explain her feelings. The dominating man thing is a little over explained. Idk. Not bad for being free.

I don’t know!

Female narrator sounds as if she is reading a story by the campfire.
Lux is annoying. I was not able to connect with either of the characters. I am sorry I wasted a credit on this book.

i started this book, listened to a few chapters and then left because bri was acting stupid, the writing wasnt so good and roman was a bit annoying. it was cringey how he started calling her little rabbit so soon. the author mentions the burning crown a lot but there isnt muh info about it so that sucked. it was cringey how roman had this high school bad boy attitude. however i came back to the book because it started getting interesting with bri. lux is weak sometimes which annoys me. by the end of the book it gets more interesting. its just a bit annoying how many questions arent answered in this book

narrators:
elsa has a nice voice. i love gary's voice

so this book has a mix of things i dont like and do. i do want to know what happens in book 2 buuuuut i don't know. 3/5 stars

This was a new to me author as she popped up on my feed. I read the blurb and thought, “why not?” I’m glad I took the plunge because it was a pretty good book.
The h got on my NERVES though…being so shocked when men get mad at her for being SUPER rude boggles my mind! All you have to say is “not interested” you don’t need to insult them. I mean…duh…
Then we have our H and he has that HATE-on for her down to a T. Wow! Im nervous reading/listening to his portion because he genuinely detests her! Scary stuff.
All in all, a decent introduction to Evelyn Austin. The 2 narrators were also new to me: Elsa Lepecki Bean & Gary Furlong. I liked them both. I know I will go onto the next book at some point!!

Solid 3 star read all around

I feel like this book took all the dark academia romance tropes and sprinkled them in at random parts. You’re telling me the MFC accepts what is considered to be stalking and harassment, as well as assault and just keeps it pushing. I don’t wanna call this series what is plainly is…a cash grab, but I’m confused about the plot points. Everything is all over the place.
If the setting was in an asylum or some sort of facility I could get on board with all this crazy but at this point I’m just mad I even started the book. I’ll wait for the price to come down or for it to just be free before I finish. Some free book have this series beat from what I can tell with these 30 measly chapters of minutiae.

As they use to say way back when, “I could’ve had a V8”…yeah this is one of those moments. Even the spice was juvenile and chaotic. I’m just disappointed.
