Perfect Listen for Fans of Deep, Dark Stories

This was a deeply disturbing listen that I absolutely loved! Y'all, I was up late into the night because I just couldn’t put it down. It’s a really, really great listen if you enjoy deep, dark stories. If Holly Guy writes more books like this, I’m totally in! The narrator, Sean Masters—yes, please... more of that! And Allie Rose, you brought the joy as well! A five-star, dark, and disturbing listen all around.

Love the narration & story

I love reading stories about Death personified, because each take is different. I do love this Death. He’s very rough, but warms to his mortal rather quickly. Great read, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the books.

Dark, sexy, twisted Romance

Death’s New Pet by Holly Guy is a fantastic story of death obsession over mortal. Allie Rose and Sean Masters did a fantastic job on the narration, their bring the story to life. You won’t be able to stop listening to the story, it keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story is dark, sexy, obsession, disturbing in the good way, romantic, twisted and beautiful. Will Scarlett get the revenge she is seeking? Will death get scarlet to be his? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.would recommend

Dark romance perfection with wonderful narration!

Death’s New Pet by Holly Guy is part of the Love After Life Series. Scarlet, after surviving a horrific life with her husband and brother-in-law, finds herself worse off in her desperate pursuit for revenge. In the clutches of Death himself. I love an FMC who can handle herself, and after all she has been through, Scarlet can hold her own. The book is dark and angsty, with a good dose of very dark romance spice.

The warnings state that the content is designed to push the boundaries of dark romance, and I’m pleased to say that this book hits the mark. So, please do check the warnings.

I thoroughly enjoyed Holly's writing. I felt the book had good flow, and I enjoyed the progression of the main characters. I’m looking forward to reading more of the series.

The audiobook is performed in duet by Allie Rose and Sean Masters. Allie did an amazing job portraying all of the female characters. Making each distinguishable from the other. I felt she captured Scarlet's energy perfectly. Sean never disappoints with his performances. He nailed his portrayal of Death; he oozed power, which I loved. The other male characters were performed expertly. A cracking audiobook that I can’t wait to listen to again.

Death's New Pet is book #1 in the Love After Life series. This is a new author for me as I'm not much of a romantasy/demons kind of listener. BUT, this story was so unique that I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. *Check the trigger warnings because there is a list* This story definitely isn't for the faint of heart and honestly, I was wondering just where the HEA was gonna be happening. I don't want to have any spoilers, but just know that if DEATH can find love...it's a good story.

The narration was fantastic. Sean Masters and Allie Rose have certainly been trending in my library lately. These two were the PERFECT Death and Scarlett and did the author's story proud. 5/5 stars!

Duet (not dual) narration saved this story

This is one of those times that choosing great narrators and having them do duet narration amped up the star rating. This was a 3 (maybe 3.5) star book for me. But the narration was so good that I gave it an additional star. I didn’t hate this story. It had a LOT of potential. And it definitely had its moments. But it felt a little wattpad to me. The characters weren’t very fleshed out and felt all over the place. And the spice felt had a similar vibe. He was written in a way that felt like he was going to be unlikely and uncaring. But he was in fact the opposite of that. It just didn’t blend right. I don’t know how to explain it. There really is potential. But I’m not sure it’s very memorable. I will listen to the second book when it comes out. And then I’ll decide if I want to finish the series.
