In a society where social credit scores dictate worth, the Newman family faces a waking nightmare when their low score lands them in a sixty-day house arrest. Trapped in their home, they're bombarded by an AI named Babble, through their government-controlled "smart devices," indoctrinating them with progressive values. As their resources dwindle, their struggle for survival takes a terrifying turn when they clash with the "Bulls of Bashan," a group of radicals intent on eliminating those deemed unsafe.

In The Fear Protocol, Brad Newbold crafts a gripping dystopian tale probing the consequences of an ideology equating beliefs with violence. With pulse-pounding suspense and timely social commentary, this novel challenges listeners to confront the dangers invading our world, and the erosion of truth in the pursuit of societal acceptance. Prepare for a riveting journey as the Newman family fights for their humanity against forces determined to erase it.

So I started listening to this and it seemed a little wild. But it was entertaining and the story was interesting and I persisted. At first I thought the narrator sounded a bit AI - ish but after I got into the story, it really worked. This story is written in a way that’s both horrific and humorous. The author has nailed the source of what’s wrong with America today. When you follow the story (and the American story) to the natural conclusions, the result is terrifying. It definitely gives you lots to think about. Read this book. It’s not a waste of your time.

Dang! This is scary….and funny!

It seemed like a very realistic story that could possibly happen in the near future. Felt like I was watching a Hollywood blockbuster hit!

Thrilling!

Please don’t blame me if this all comes true. As far as I know I’m not a prophet.

The best book I’ve ever written

Shew this one was a wild read.

I don’t normally pick up books that so blatantly involve politics but I’m also guilty of jumping into books without knowing much about them.

While I appreciate and understand the message and values presented in this book, I’m going to review this book without regard to my thoughts and feelings on the politics but on the execution of the story and characters.

The plot itself is wild. I cannot imagine living in a world where so many freedoms have been stripped away. The realism of it is the scariest part.

But what starts as a terrifying premise leads to chapters of redundant memories and over explanation of actions. There is very little introspection, but rather a constant onslaught of actions.

I awaited a fight for survival. Instead, the family overcomes small hurdles in long drawn out step by step writing.

The family itself has some pretty 2D characters, though Luke was a favorite.

the premise and the execution of this family being quarantined from the world and attempted to be brainwashed was eerie, sometimes too close to home while other times being a bit extreme.

The plot does ramp up and get exciting towards the end. This book is definitely a must-read for those that enjoy more realistic, political apocalypse stories.
