Publisher's summary

The Copperfield family celebrates the holidays for the first time in twenty-five years—but secrets from the past continue to haunt them.

Christmas was always Greta Copperfield's favorite time of year. Memories from that first Christmas with Bernard in Paris are some of her favorite—times before marriage, before children, and even before the Copperfield house, when the love she had for Bernard was the only thing she really understood.

But all that was so long ago. Now, as the world comes to terms with the fact that Bernard Copperfield spent twenty-five years in prison for crimes that he did not commit, Greta stirs with confusion about her own past and future. Still, she welcomes back the entirety of the Copperfield family for a holiday season none of them will ever forget.

Can she and Bernard find a way to love one another again, even after so much time apart? Can her children truly find a way to heal after so many years of trauma?

Dive into book four of this women's fiction series set on the Island of Nantucket—a glorious world of beautiful beaches, frothing waves, cobblestone streets, and a beloved cast of characters. The series tells the story of the Copperfield family, their return to Nantucket Island, and their healing after decades of pain and loneliness. Together, they can be better than ever before.

Greta is self absorbed in this particular book.

I really liked the first 3 books. However this particular one was - ugh - an eye roller most of the time! Self absorbed is definitely how I’d describe her in this particular series book. Greta’s husband went to prison for 25 years for something HE DID NOT DO and her daughters had to finally prove it all awhile Greta did nothing for 25 years, along with the kids. “She needs to reinvent herself and see if she still has it” and admits her jealousness over her husbands success on his new book after Bernard was released from prison. “Strong Greta Richard” was so reminiscent throughout this one book but yet only feels sorry FOR HERSELF on what "could have been for HER OWN LIFE". Then Greta’s shitty “BFF’s” that did nothing for her during the 25 years Bernard was in prison for something HE DID NOT DO, miraculously roll in and offer 'support' “because Greta Richards needs us” and Greta decides to listen to the shitty BFFs (who weren't there at all) and move on with her life because her 2 single friends said she needs a fresh start and quoted by Greta was “mourning the life that she could’ve had”. Umm - just because the shitty friends have no life and neither has a husband let’s make Greta join in on the “let’s make Greta just as miserable as we are” club. Then the one shitty BFF talks her Into going back out on a date with another self absorbed man from her past after 50 something years because he’s rich and “he lives the life I should’ve led over the years” wait what - what self indulgent person says that!?! I hope the next book in the series is better because I’d hate to have wasted my time if it’s exactly like this one. I still have 45 minutes left in this book...but I'm writing the review now.... *After I left the review and being the ONLY review the book has a 5 Star rating...not sure how that was calculated since I have a 2 overall - 5 for performance and a 1 for story...but whatever... :)
