  • 369. The Emotional Side of Clutter: Why Moms Struggle To Let Go | Part 1 with Victoria & Bronwyn
    Nov 3 2026
Hi Mamas, Have you ever opened a closet, looked at all the stuff you've accumulated over the years, and thought, "I really need to get rid of some of this"…only to find yourself putting everything right back where it was? You're not alone, mama! Sometimes the hardest part of decluttering isn't finding the time to get organized. It's letting go of the memories, the money we spent, and the guilt we feel about getting rid of things. In Part 1 of this two-part organizing series, I'm joined by professional organizers Victoria and Bronwyn, founders of Space & Home Organizing Solutions, who have helped organize more than 600 homes! We're talking about the emotional side of clutter and why so many busy working moms struggle to let go of things they no longer need or use. And I'm sharing some of my own organizing confessions, including the sentimental Christmas ornaments that led me to buy another Christmas tree, the childhood bedding sets I've been saving in my attic, and the Halloween costumes I just can't seem to part with! Because apparently, knowing you need to declutter and actually doing it are two very different things! In This Episode, We Talk About: Why clutter accumulates and what makes decluttering so emotionally difficult. How to let go of sentimental items without feeling like you're losing the memories attached to them. The guilt of getting rid of clothes, gifts, and other belongings we've spent money on.Why holding on to family heirlooms can feel like an obligation.Creative ways to preserve special memories without keeping everything. How our childhood experiences influence our relationship with belongings. Why we need to think twice before passing our sentimental clutter… and the guilt that comes with it—on to our kids.Simple mindset shifts that can make decluttering feel less overwhelming. 🎁 FREE Holiday Countdown Planning Kit - Use Code KERRI! • 368. Working Mom Mindset: Let Go of Clutter Before the Holidays (Without the Mom Guilt)
    Nov 2 2026
Hey mamas, Do you have bins of baby clothes, old Halloween costumes, school artwork, and toys that your kids haven't touched in years—but you just can't bring yourself to get rid of? You're not alone! As moms, we attach so many memories to our children's belongings. And sometimes, letting go of those things feels like letting go of a little piece of their childhood. But what if keeping everything is actually making it harder to appreciate the things that are truly special? In today's Monday Mindset episode of Mom Wife Career Life, we're talking about the emotional side of decluttering, letting go of mom guilt, and creating more space in our homes and lives before the holiday season. Inspired by a conversation with professional organizers Victoria and Bronwyn from SPACE Home Organizing, we're reflecting on this powerful quote: "If I keep all of it, then none of it's special." And I'm sharing one of my favorite holiday traditions from when my kids were little—a special visit from our Elf on the Shelf that helped teach them the importance of giving back while clearing out toys before Christmas. In This Episode, We're Talking About: Why sentimental clutter is so difficult for moms to let go ofHow to preserve childhood memories without keeping everythingWhy decluttering before the holidays can reduce stress and overwhelmA fun Elf on the Shelf tradition that teaches kids gratitude and generosityHow to involve your kids in donating toys before ChristmasWhy creating a peaceful home doesn't mean having a perfect home This Week's Monday Mindset Challenge: One Box. One Bag. Before more holiday gifts come into your home, challenge yourself and your family to fill one box or one bag with things you no longer need, use, or love. It might be toys your kids have outgrown, clothes you no longer wear, or household items that are just taking up space. Get your kids involved, find a local organization that accepts donations, and give those items a chance to bring joy to someone else. Remember, mamas, you don't have to declutter your entire house in one weekend. Let's keep the conversation going! I'd love to hear what beautiful little moments you notice this week! • 367. How To Stop Dreading Things & Start Making The Most Of Life
    Oct 27 2026
Hi Mamas, Have you ever had something on your calendar that you were absolutely dreading? A work trip, a family obligation, a meeting, or an event you committed to but really don't want to attend? As busy working moms, we already have so much on our plates. And sometimes, the anticipation of something we don't want to do creates even more stress than the experience itself! In today’s episode, I'm sharing a personal story about a recent work trip to Chicago that I was NOT looking forward to. Between leaving my family, missing my daughter's volleyball playoffs, rearranging appointments, falling behind at work, and dealing with my anxiety around flying, I had plenty of reasons to dread this trip. But then my 13-year-old son turned my own parenting advice right back on me—and completely changed my perspective! It was a reminder that while we can't always control what we have to do, we can often control how we approach it. And sometimes, the experiences we dread the most turn out to be the ones that surprise us. In This Episode, We're Talking About: Why the anticipation of something stressful can be worse than the actual experienceHow to change your mindset when you have to do something you don't want to doThree simple mindset shifts to help you make the best of any situationHow to help your kids approach unwanted obligations with a more positive attitudeWhy being present matters, even in moments we didn't necessarily chooseHow to stop wishing away your life and start finding joy in everyday experiences 3 Mindset Shifts to Try This Week Acknowledge your feelings without letting them determine your attitude. You don't have to pretend you're excited about something you're dreading. Your feelings are valid, but they don't have to dictate your entire experience. Find one thing to look forward to. Instead of focusing on everything that could go wrong, ask yourself what might actually be good about the experience. A new connection? A fun conversation? An unexpected opportunity? Be where your feet are. Once you're there, give yourself permission to be fully present. Stop counting down the minutes and give the experience a chance. And if it's not fun, bring the fun! The next time you catch yourself dreading something you have to do, ask yourself: "If I'm going to spend my time doing this anyway, how can I make the most of it?" Because mama, your time is precious, and you deserve to enjoy as much of your life as possible—even the parts you didn't necessarily plan. 👉 And I'd love to hear what you're working on this week. Come join us in my Facebook community, Work-Life Balance For Working Moms, and share the one thing you're choosing to approach with a different mindset. ⭐ If this episode gave you a little boost, please take a moment to leave a 5-star review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify… your reviews help more amazing moms find the show! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 📌 Grab Your Freebies! 🔥 Boundaries Made Simple… guilt-free scripts, mindset shifts, and a “guilt-detox” checklist💖 Goal Manifesting Planner … map your dreams with bite-size prompts🥗 Stress Free Weeknight Dinners Guide… reclaim your evenings (and your sanity)📱 Tech Time-Out for Moms Guide… ditch the scroll and win back precious minutes🧹 Spring Cleaning Checklist… because clutter steals time, too🎅Christmas Planning Guide… yes, early prep counts as self-care💻ChatGPT Prompts Made Simple for Moms.. simply cut and paste Want to connect with other amazing moms?
