A surly, hot wizard. A dangerous calling. A curse killing off students.

I’ve dreamed of attending Spellcasters Spy Academy for as long as I can remember. So, imagine my surprise when I get there and discover it’s not the academic utopia I imagined. This place is dangerous as hell. And, I don’t mean the classes or the Samhain Trials, though those aren’t a cakewalk. They say the students in the Culling year - my year - are cursed. Someone, or maybe something, is picking us off, one by one.

Between challenging courses, my irritating and surly crush, and the enigmatic curse, you might say that I have my hands full. A softer woman might leave the academy, but there’s no way in hell I’m giving up on my dream. I’m here to stay. That is, as long as I’m not the murderer’s next victim.

Fans of Harry Potter, Twilight, and The Craft will love Ashley McLeo’s Spellcasters Spy Academy. Now a complete series.

I found this audio version more dramatic than the kindle book, another thing I noticed was what a princess Odette appeared, turning up unprepared for school and with a lazy entitled attitude. SO I can say right off the bat that the narrator IS doing her job in portraying the characters and setting the scene for the book.
Rightly so Odette gets attitude and scorn from other students and so the story continues as she learns a lot and earns her place in school. I thought it was clever and it kept one step ahead of me. I am happy to recommend it as a clean and entertaining fantasy witch story. Mostly The narration was good with an easy to listen voice, yes the volume did go up a bit at times, I thought the one narrator did a fair job of the many voices.

THE UNPREPARED WITCH, good value $!

The audio quality was hit or miss and volumes would change randomly in the middle of a sentence. The narrator had a few voices but ultimately most of the characters sounded similar to one another. One of the lead characters was voiced to always sound drunk and draggy despite being an 18 y/o girl at school. I would read this one with a physical copy, not use a credit for this narration.

Fun story, awful narration
