Fun with unexpected character moments

Though I expected the paperback version of an 80s slasher movie, Stage Fright delivered a bit more. A Sci fi premise. Unexpected character development of those who try to stop the killings, and those the killer takes aim at. A surprisingly sympathetic villain. As for the narration, Garrett Boatman does a good job differentiating each character, giving them personality. Recommended. Fright Dreams

I struggled through this book and really had to force myself to see it all the way through. I liked the premise and enjoyed some of the hellish scenes, but had a hard time staying focused as it jumped around quite a bit and just confused me more than I cared for. I love 80's horror and this definitely epitomizes that style, to include the often incoherent plot line. Definitely has the 80's science fiction horror feel that many will enjoy, especially the characters and dream sequences.

The main reason I picked up this book was Joe Hempel. He is a great narrator and I usually can add an extra star just because of how well he brings the story to life. He did a valiant effort, but for me the story was just too convoluted to really become one that I would want to listen to again. But who knows, maybe I will and will like it more.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
