"Kaiju" means "strange beast" in Japanese and refers to giant monsters such as Godzilla, Gamera, and Jeremy Robinson’s creation, Nemesis.

Supernatural SciFi Thriller!!!

Tether is written by Jeremy Robinson. The narration is provided by Jeffrey Kafer. Mr. Robinson returns to the Kaiju Thriller Genre with a slight deviation adding some supernatural elements as well. This is a roller coaster ride that keeps the listener entertained. I was hooked from the very beginning of the story with his wife Face timing him from work.

This is a story for those listeners of the genre that enjoy a thriller with supernatural elements. This is not going to appeal to everyone but that is what the whole review process is here for. I truly enjoy the new twist of the mystery involving the wife and the creation of the Kaiju monsters this time. This new twist adds drama and tension. I truly enjoyed the story.

The narration by Jeffery Kafer in this audio production was truly outstanding. This was a truly memorable performance from Mr. Kafer. His performance of Rain and Saul was highly memorable. The production quality of this audiobook is also of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance such as loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear. Breakneck Media delivered an excellent audiobook production. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Yep

Not a bad story, not a story I was expecting. The author does love Kaiju’s. Not that all those stories are terrible, just a story path that gets old.

A worthy book

Jeremy Robinson is an acclaimed author and I've enjoyed many of his books. Tether is billed in the SciFi/Fantasy genre but there was not much descriptive science fiction-y elements to it unless one also considers, say, Ghost Busters a SciFi story which I don't. Still, as a thriller/horror story, in the Dean Koontz Intensity vein, it fits comfortably. My impression is that it had elements of Ghost Busters, The Sixth Sense, Elfen Lied (anime), and Ready Player One (Trivial Pursuit Movie Category).

I was mildly disappointed that the author never explained how the laboratory incident ended up creating kaiju other than some intense polarity reversal type fiasco. In fact, there were several areas that were only superficially touched on, especially character backstories, where a fuller explanation would have helped the story. Even the characters themselves weren't very likable. The MC was basically a drug-addled loser and a kept husband while his genius wife and their female genius friend were in on the developing the technology that ended up ending 1000s of lives.

Jeffrey Kafer is a good narrator but his always intense declarative tone comes across as everyone speaking every sentence in an authoritative manner.

Make the movie!

Great story telling from a 1st person view. Enjoyed it. This would make a great movie!

imaginative and entertaining

Another excellent book by Jeremy Robinson. Sometimes I wonder what Jeremy was smoking when he was writing this his stories 😂, they are so incredible and imaginative. And he always throws in a couple twists and turns, leaving me wanting more. Keep up the excellent work Jeremy! And of course, Jeffrey Kafer's narration was like icing on the cake! I highly recommend this book as well as all of Jeremy Robinson's other books, as they are all excellent reads.
