Publisher's summary

For 31 years, a monster terrorized the residents of Wichita, Kansas. A bloodthirsty serial killer, self-named "BTK" - for "bind them, torture them, kill them" - he slaughtered men, women, and children alike, eluding the police for decades while bragging of his grisly exploits to the media.

The nation was shocked when the fiend who was finally apprehended turned out to be Dennis Rader - a friendly neighbor...a devoted husband...a helpful Boy Scout dad...the respected president of his church.

Written by four award-winning crime reporters who covered the story for more than 20 years, Bind, Torture, Kill is the most intimate and complete account of the BTK nightmare told by the people who were there from the beginning. With newly released documents, evidence, and information - and with the full cooperation, for the very first time, of the Wichita Police Department's BTK Task Force - the authors have put all the pieces of the grisly puzzle into place, thanks to their unparalleled access to the families of the killer and his victims.

Contains mature themes.

Interesting but too long.

This book could have been much shorter. Narration was a little monotonous. Not a bad listen, though.

Great story!

The narrator would sometimes read the story in the same fashion as the killer’s communications, with broken speech and poor flow. It’s almost as if he got stuck reading in that way, even after he finished reading the letters.
The story was great. I liked how the authors highlighted the good guys too, instead of focusing only on the bad guy. It provided balance, which led to a more satisfying ending.

What I wanted in this type of subject.

I liked the chapters were written in order of the murders. Didnt jump around nor lacked the details in what he actually did to those poor famlies.

Intriguing..

Fascinating to get more into the minds of serial killers. Crazy to see the resemblance of nowadays 'serial daters'. People who do ALL the same stalking/hunting of helpless women, who have had bad lots in life, & play on it. Only difference is this guy went ALL the way of not jus abusing, yet, BTK'ing them.

I studied BTK in college as I received my bachelor's in criminal justice. This book did a fantastic job @ narrating the story of his & everyone involved.

BTK

I really enjoyed the content of the book, however the narrator was so monotone he almost put me to sleep. plus with no change in voice you didn't know when he was going from one person's point of view to the other.

Very Good Story

A good enough story that I was disappointed when it was over- The detail and the suspense was part of the experience. Even though this person has been caught for some time I had only a small fraction of the details and this book took one step by step through the entire process of investigating this killer. If this were not fact it would have made for interesting fiction-

Great narration. Fantastic book!

Great narration. Fantastic book. Unbelievable that a seemingly “normal” man could do such gruesomely disgusting things to people, including children.

Excellent!!

This was a great perspective. I’ve read other books and the one by his daughter. This really rounded out the story.

Great book

What a great read/listen. I liked it talked about the BTK from his side and from the cops side. It was crazy to think about how screwed up he was, at the same time how normal he was.

Very enjoyable. I had a lot of “fun” listening to this BTK story. Thanks again.
