Following closely on the heels of Buccaneers, Liam and the crew of Hotspur take a much needed vacation on the tropical planet Curie, where they have nothing more to do than enjoy sun and sand. Trouble is never far away for this group of privateers, however, as a mysterious invitation to meet the reclusive Phillipe Anino interrupts their holiday. With more wealth than could be spent in 20 lifetimes, and access to illicit technology and information, Anino discovered a common interest with the crew - the fate of the Cape of Good Hope. Anino believes he has a way to recover the Cape's crew, but to do so will pit Liam and his friends against the powerful Belirand Corporation. Will the crew of Hotspur take the risky mission and become fugitives for the sake of 45 people they don't know? Or will they leave the people on board the Cape of Good Hope to die, alone in the deep dark of space? There's more at stake than any of them could guess. The actions of Liam and his friends could very well change the known universe forever.

what started as a series I was really enjoying seems to be getting worse. not only does this captain pick his crew like a dynamic duo of Jeffrey Epstein and Bill Cosby, he picked the most annoying one as a mate. I'm listening to this series with my wife and it's funny, we have a running joke by asking each other "is she dead yet?" we can't figure out her purpose as a part of the crew other than annoying sex slave. she just seems like the kind of character who does things just to make life (and the story) suck more. she's always messing things up for the crew, acting inappropriately, assaulting people for no reason or just acting like a jackass. add in another character who a stand in for an auto pilot a fairly good egg head buddy and a security specialist who could do all of this herself and you have a crew of 1/2 good, 1/2 useless.
seriously all you need is the 2 partners and the security specialist and it's a much better story.
note to author, please stop with calling a HUD a H.U.D. we got it after the first reference and btw, you don't pull the trigger in semi auto mode once and "stitch shots uncontrollably in a line" it would fire 1 shot, 1 shot... out of your depth much?
the metallurgy stuff is accurate. the sword making is right on. (Have done a 80 fold blade myself at a forging class) but damn your other knowledge needs help bud. read other books before writing one. great music choices though.

Still a little too much of the Yahoo in the main character, but I'm glad I stuck to the series. it does grow on one.

The forcing of situations to fit the story arc, & the actions main characters not fitting who they are... start to grind..
Whats I like about this series is that I can listen while doing other things, its not so complicated that I have to give it all my attention.

The "0ut of character" ground on me.

I have shared this story with everyone I know. It is even mostly clean enough to share with my kids. I love to get to know the crew and feel myself slipping into there world

I love this adventure
