I love it!

Story was unexpectedly funny. Lots of drama and suspense with a bunch of thwarted romance thrown in. A few sexy times (mild). Narration was okay. Like the interactions of the main cast of characters.

Why did I wait so long to start this series?

It’s very engaging & fast paced. I love Zoey & Daniel, can’t wait for their next adventure. I was disappointed that they didn’t keep the Light of Alhorra. Maybe the Light will show up again. Highly recommend.

The beginning of an AWESOME storyline and world

The narration for all five books was by Kitty Bang. She did a great job with this. I was able to discern each character without difficulty.
Story: Zoe and Daniel's story starts with tragedy and continues with many twists and turns. I love vampire stories but Daniel in this book was a jerk, basically ordering Zoe around and demanding this and that because he wanted to "protect" her. Don't give up on the jerk tho. It gets soooo much better later on.
Zoe is great at her job. While she is a strong hero, she is also such a damsel in distress sometimes that she drove me crazy! She does some dangerous thing; she plans and researches her heist(s), she is able to have plan A, B, and C....etc. Yet, she ends up in a situation where she is blamed for the screw-up. She too blames herself and accepts the situation as a personal failure.
I thoroughly enjoyed the series and as Lexi Blake gives us more and more of the world she created, she also gives us more passion, love, and the hurdles Zoe goes through to be happy. Worth my credits but I'm thrilled it is on Audible Escape.

W00t!

This is that rare series that I've reread several times because it's just that good. I didn't see how the audiobook could live up to it. But Kitty Bang!!! Damn girl. You do Zoey proud!!! I'm so excited to hear the rest of them. Hurry! Can't wait to have the full set on audio as well as Kindle!!!

Side Note - You literally can't go wrong with a Lexi Blake book, and this series has it all. Enjoy!!!

A few issues I hope will be cleared up in book 2.

I hate this love triangle. We need a change. Another is what is all this allowing your love to be left alone so long. No explanation. No real reason. Then look who's back and not giving a choice to follow you around. No real respect nor belief in her strength. He might say he loves her, but show me the proof. Tell us how and why this is true when we barely see anything. I need more, but Dev isn't perfect either. Controling and manipulative. Grrrrrr... It is great narration, but I hope book 2 has real change to come.
