I am still in the middle of this book but had to write a review because I was surprised that the current rating was only 2 stars. Knowing this had to be an error I purchased this book and am glad I did. As a devoted Grisham fan I was eagerly awaiting this novel. Reading this story feels like going home for a visit, all the same folks that make life interesting. Add to it the amazing storytelling performance of Michael Beck and it's already one of my new favorites.

As good as it gets...

John Grisham is to me, the best author when it comes to the courtroom, legal, lawyer, mystery. I have every book of his that I can get. I have enjoyed each and every one of them. This book was so good, it made me stop and think, "When did I last enjoy a book so much?" Oh, it was a John Grisham book…

Please do not wait, get this book and share in my excitement. I love a good mystery! Enjoy!

Among Grisham's best!

I've been very critical in my Audible reviews of John Grisham's two most recent novels, Gray Mountain and Rogue Lawyer. Sycamore Row was released in 2013 and it is as good as any prior Grisham novel. In this book Grisham goes back to the location and main character from A Time to Kill, his 1989 novel that introduced him to the literary world. Sycamore Row is a great legal thriller.

Good, but Not the Grisham I Remember

Most of Grisham's court room dramas leave you hanging until the last sentence. This one gave it away at least and hour before the last sentence. I'll forgive that, because it was a good story, told in Grisham's fashion. The problem with this one was that it required so much back story for many of the characters that he apparently had to dig deep and interrupt his ongoing story to tell the back story.

But, I enjoyed the book, was engaged all through and would recommend it to those who enjoy the drama of the court, especially in southern Mississippi.

Grisham is back!

What made the experience of listening to Sycamore Row the most enjoyable?

I'm less than halfway through this book, but I have to pause and say Wow! The old Grisham, the one we loved before he started turning out cookie cutter blah novels, resting on the laurels of his early success - he is back! Can't put this one down, fell asleep with it last night and rewound this morning to the last part I remember - does Miss Letty realize the damage she's doing? Will the circling family scum get what's coming to them? What did Seth want to prove? Will we ever know?

I stopped looking at Grisham's new works, after a few disappointments. Like many authors that fall into the commercial trap, I couldn't help but feel that he was more focused on deadlines and paydays than delivering a good novel. Probably wouldn't have risked making another "donation" to his bank, if not backed by the Audible return policy - but I was intrigued by a couple of reviews that echoed my thoughts about this author and proclaiming his return. They were right.

If you loved Jake Brigance in a Time To Kill, you won't want to miss Sycamore Row. Grisham is back!
