The War is over, won by Ender Wiggin and his team of brilliant child-warriors. The enemy is destroyed, the human race is saved. Ender himself refuses to return to the planet, but his crew has gone home to their families, scattered across the globe. The battle school is no more.

But with the external threat gone, the Earth has become a battlefield once more. The children of the Battle School are more than heroes; they are potential weapons that can bring power to the countries that control them. One by one, all of Ender's Dragon Army are kidnapped. Only Bean escapes; and he turns for help to Ender's brother Peter.

Peter Wiggin, Ender's older brother, has already been manipulating the politics of Earth from behind the scenes. With Bean's help, he will eventually rule the world.

Shadow of the Hegemon is the second novel in Orson Scott Card's Shadow Series.

“The professional cast of narrators gives a spirited and dynamic reading of this science fiction series. Their individual styles are complementary, and the story passes among them seamlessly. They quickly become associated with the main characters, aiding the listener in following the threads of the plot.” —AudioFile on Shadow of the Giant

The book like the rest of Cards work is great. If you like sci-fi or more specifically in this case political thrillers this book is fantastic.

However, be advised the narration in this one is not really up to par. The acting is good but for some reason the word hegemon caused a lot of issues. In some spots it's with a hard g. Other it's soft. Then in others the sentences containing that word is either dubbed or edited in a really jarring way. It doesn't fit in and really takes you out of the moment. It happens in some spots besides the word hegemon too but mostly just any involving that word, especially in later chapters. It made me laugh at how awful it is at some points.

I still recommend the book but if you are wanting a more atmospheric experience I'd suggest you read it or wait for a different narrator.

Great book, poorly edited narration

Loved the story, good reading of it too. Just absolutely hated the end of the chapter music!!

Why the music, Why!?!

This story is excellent and the voice acting is excellent but when we pay a premium price for a product we expect it to be a premium product. What prevents this from premium is the random glitches in the audio (a random voice will replace one word in a sentence said by someone else and this happens many times). It is as if you guys ripped this from Napster for free and then charged us close to $30 to listen to it.

great book
