Former Green Beret Eric Dane and the mysterious Sin Fen, a woman with powers he can't quite understand, must track the mystical crystal skulls that have baffled scientists, to use them as a weapon against the Shadow, and unite with the gladiator and oracle to make a last stand for mankind.

If you enjoyed Lost, you'll love this book and be amazed at the similarities in concept (although this book was published before Lost).

Great story horrible narration

Like the Area 51 series this is a great story a very interesting concept, well researched, and very well written. I don’t remember there being a problem with the narration of Area 51, but the narration of the Atlantis series first 3 books has been terrible. Even after they switched narrators. It’s been very monotone with very little to no difference to different characters voices. There was clearly no editing or production to it, as you hear the narrator making mistakes and going back. It’s not a performance as good narrators do, it’s just a guy reading a book out loud. It surprised me since Bob Mayer is a very successful author and I would think the publisher would put more into producing his books for audio.

That being said I have to say the story is so good that I listened anyway. It was worth the terrible narration. So if you can get past the narration it’s really worth the listen. If you have time to read the book though that might be more enjoyable.

Where does Atlantis: Devil's Sea rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story is pretty good. Though I think that things are changing how they work from book 1 until now. But still not too bad.

The one complaint I will make is that the audio editing was done fairly poorly. There are several times where the reader goes back and re-read words or phrases in, what seems to be, an attempt to improve the reading. But then the editor did not remove the first reading. So you hear the same things twice several times throughout the book. This needs to be resolved.

Awesome story.

Great story and very exciting but poor editing for the narrator could have easily been corrected.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Very choppy. Intensity was misapplied at times. Characters were indistinct. Also, technology now allows for editing a recording - why did no one do this? Pronunciation should be researched as well.

Yes - consider a career as a narrator for Audible!

My previous experiences with Audible have been excellent. This series has, so far, been very disappointing.
