Very Much Depressing

I choose this book by mistake. I had to make myself complete it. Dysfunctional family affecting adult life of children,suicidal attempt, it wouldn’t have been my choice. In the end things work out but the ending doesn’t bring your depressing emotions full circle. I’m feeling pretty low after finishing the book sort of sorry I finished it. Should have stopped after about 10 chapters.

I’m sure you can find a more feel good lesbian novel without looking too hard.

I've grown to love Harper Bliss's work so much that her last ten books have been on auto-buy. I know I'm going to get quality. I know it's going to be original. I know the sex is going to be delicious.

And lately, with audiobooks she's been on an Abby Craden roll - and I will never complain about that! Harper tends to write angst and Craden delivers that like no other.

I hadn't read this one - which was one of Harper's first releases back in 2014. It had also been released on audio in the past, but Harper decided to re-release it with her favorite narrator - Craden - who she considers "the best." Since her new releases are now auto-buys I picked it right up and I'm so glad I did. This was so well done. I'm always amazed by the quality of her storytelling, the language she uses, and how she brings the emotions of characters to the surface.

This wasn't an easy story to tell. It's about a woman who had attempted to take her own life and then travels back to her hometown to try and make peace. Not only with herself, but her dysfunctional family. There is also a lovely romance along her journey.

A real bonus of this release was that the audiobook included a follow-up novella where we get an update on these characters three years down the road. What a great gift that was!

Loved it. With each book of hers I experience, I become an even bigger fan.

Nice lesbian audiobook

very nice book but is very depressing and sad, if you is in a depressing stage I totally suggest you to skip this book, the narrative is great as always and the sex scene is hot but the storyline is heavy on the dark side of life.

Loved everything about this story.

Great characters, amazing storyline and I enjoyed that it was set at a lake. Harper Bliss has descriptive writing and always keeps books interesting.

Wow. Couldn't stop.

Tough subject matter but I could stop listening. I feel like we can all relate to a lot of Ella's thoughts. I loved the characters and fell in love with the human-ness of them. Parts are steamy but well written. Overall I loved this book and started it over as a relisten right away!

Extraodinary Portrayal of Recovery

Harper Bliss is one of my favorite authors, and Abbey Craden my favorite narrator. Abbey's narration of this story exemplifies her acting talents to bring this story to life, to tell it in a way that the listener truly idenitfy's with Ella's feelings. Abbey protrayed Ella's raw emtions and Kay's compassion with such intense emotion. As the listener, I was right there experiencing that emotion and routing for Ella. Tears coming to my eyes as well. This is a must read or listen story that I believe could be helpful for people who suffer severe depression, feel hopeless, and question their lives as it is.

This isn't a substitute by any means to seek professional help. When a person is suffering sometimes listening or reading a story like this can be uplifting knowing you are not the only one, knowing there is someone who got through it. The journey from the bottom is not easy.

I applaud Harper's ability to tell a story like this. I beliieve it can have a profound effect on those who may suffer depression and hopelessness, knowing , in this story there is hope for a better tomorrow.

My new favorite writer and my all time favorite ‘voice’ to read her books. Thank you both for yet another wonderful adventure!

Abby x Harper is always a winning combo

I think this is one of a handful of underrated HB books. Subject is a bit heavy and trigger warning worthy but the ways she fully flushes out characters and buildings them along the way keeps you interested and makes you root for them individually and as a couple. Spice 4/5. Abby craden never disappoints.

I listened to the other narration first. if I had know an Abby Craden version existed I would not have two copies in my library. with that being said the other performance was wonderful but there is something about an Abby Craden performance that leaves nothing to be desired.
Harper Bliss is my favorite Author. with good reason. I fall in love with all the characters. I always look forward to the next one.
This story is built on a difficult to discuss topic. Beautifully developed characters navigate difficult life events and find ways to support each other through it all. I feel like the characters and story are very realistic and easy to connect to. the story flow is smooth and at the end I felt like I witnessed something so real it gave me chills. I would absolutely recommend.
