Story
In the skies above the Pacific, a U.S. Navy F/A-18 from the USS Abraham Lincoln blows up. The question is why? But answers aren’t easy to find. When another jet mysteriously explodes in midair, the president can no longer ignore reality: U.S. forces are under attack. But by whom? While the military and intelligence communities race for answers, the president calls on ex-CIA operatives and former military pilots Scott Dalton and Jackie Sullivan to launch their own investigation.

Story
One Hawaiian afternoon, a cruise ship filled with Japanese tourists comes under fire. Unbelievably, a civilian helicopter is strafing the ship with automatic weapons. The shock waves from the tragic attack reach all the way to Washington and Tokyo. In retaliation for the attack, a group of American tourists is ambushed in Osaka, and then Japanese-Americans become targets across the United States. Relations between the US and Japan rapidly deteriorate. The only way to restore order and prevent a greater conflict is to find out who is responsible for the initial attack - and why.

Story
Marine pilot Brad Austin and his carrier-based F-4 Phantom group fly into the heart of enemy territory daily without fear, but the rules of engagement hinder them nearly as much as the North Vietnamese. Restricted from attacking the enemy's MiG bases, Austin and the other American pilots are vulnerable to attack without the ability to retaliate, a weakness that tragically leads to the death of Austin's wingman. Consumed by the need to avenge his comrade, Austin goes one-on-one with the enemy in a battle that ultimately proves in war there can be no rules.

Story
The United States is under attack. From the sea and the sky, the devastating attacks come, crippling the US military's ability to respond. Thousands have been killed and injured. For President Cord Macklin, this is the greatest challenge of his life, greater than risking his life in the skies over Vietnam and greater than guiding the country through some of the most trying times. But none has been more trying than this. Below the sea, a predator stalks the pride of America's Navy: its aircraft carriers. Deadly and silent, this killer seems able to elude all efforts to find it.

Story
While Congress debates the merits of continued funding for the stealth bomber, sinister forces have their own goals in mind. During a training exercise, a B-2 bomber disappears. When search efforts produce no evidence that the bomber crashed, the US Air Force has no choice but to acknowledge that one of its most secret and high-tech aircraft has been hijacked.
Recovery of the B-2 and its crew becomes the president's highest priority, and the Kremlin claims no knowledge of the missing aircraft. Finally, intelligence leads to what at first seems a very unlikely suspect: Cuba.

Publisher's Summary
From the New York Times Best-Selling Author of DEFCON One
When traditional military tactics are no longer enough, new weapons must be found. Scott Dalton and Jackie Sullivan are those weapons - operatives so secret that they will be disavowed if ever caught.
Equipped with cutting-edge technology and with extensive resources, only they can prevent a nuclear catastrophe that could destroy the United States.
They do not lack for targets in their efforts to prevent a worldwide conflagration: Saeed Shayhidi, a billionaire Iranian mastermind of terror; Khaliq Farkas, as barbaric and elusive as bin Laden; and Zheng-Yen Tsung, a powerful Chinese official looking to tip the scales of world power at any expense.
For Dalton and Sullivan, the challenges have never been greater, the threat never more intense. The United State is under attack on multiple fronts and our enemies must know that any such attack will be met only one way...with an assured response.

Narration and writing destroy this book
First the the voices are so annoying. The Female voice is like a cat in heat. Then you have the story. Car blows up and no stress or worry. We’re gonna get them back???? How weak is that! I really hated this book.

The book falls short of a thriller
This is short of plausible content and the characters are shallow. Still it is an attempt towards a thriller. If you like aviation and details on planes etc. you might like it. It is more some characters are included among these type of descriptions than a thriller. Further both main characters have nothing to do with skilled military professionals. The book could do without them as well.

Terrified
Intresting in that the good guys can't seem to actually stop the bad guy terrorists. The heroes are talented and determined but unlucky. The terrorist are willing to die to kill their enemies and seem to have the advantage against a government with more weapons than focus.

the 1st book was on Iran, but this book keeps referring to a china incident that has someone out to get them? where's that book? is audible missing a book between the 1st and this one? same problem as 1st book with narration...all female characters sounds like a guy whose helium "high" is tapering off. like, "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world"-esque. not impressed. I was hoping for something reminiscent of Tom Clancy...not so.
