Publisher's Summary
Assassin’s Creed: Gold is a stand-alone action tale from the Assassin's Creed universe.
Meet Aliyah Kahn, a card shark and hustler who’s been dealt a rough hand in life. Living off of her street smarts and scams, Aliyah makes do until she’s outhustled big time by a mysterious older man, Gavin Banks. Her only option to pay the debt is to become an Assassin for Banks. During her training, he tells Aliyah of the centuries-old battle between the Assassins and Templars, asking her to help him decode a secret message inscribed on an illegal form of currency during the Great Recoinage of 1696. This exciting thriller features a full cast, including Emmy winner Riz Ahmed and Anthony Head.
Featuring fan favorite characters of the beloved franchise, Assassin’s Creed: Gold tells a gripping tale of imminent economic collapse, featuring appearances from Warden of the Royal Mint, Isaac Newton, con artist and counterfeiter William Chaloner, blind assassin Omar Khaled, assassin trainer Rose Galloway, and Aliyah’s long-lost father. Equal parts adrenaline-fueled and thought-provoking, Assassin’s Creed: Gold draws a compelling parallel with the financial chaos of Isaac Newton’s 17th-century Britain and the economic uncertainty of recent times.
Audible’s full-cast drama brings the clash of the Assassins and Templars to life as a gripping audio thriller with lead performances from Riz Ahmed (Emmy winner, Golden Globe nominee, The Night Of, Rogue One, Four Lions), Anthony Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Merlin, Little Britain), Danny Wallace (BAFTA Games Award winner, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed III), and Tamara Lawrance (Corvidae, On Chesil Beach).
The Audible Original also features the talents of Laura Aikman, Rachel Atkins, Brian Bowles, Andrew Branch, John Chancer, Lily Donovan, Rupert Fairley, Ray Fearon, Owen Findlay, Jason Forbes, Nicholas Goh, David John, Jim Johnson, Will Kelly, John Last, Gemma Lawrence, Nicholas le Prevost, Simon Lipson, Hayward Morse, Paul Panting, Laila Payne, Nigel Pilkington, Joseph Radcliffe, David Rintoul, Anne Rosenfeld, Jennifer Saayeng, Gyuri Sarossy, and Daniel Weyman.

His vengeance against the gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive...and teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series - satisfying combat, breathtaking scale, and a powerful narrative - and fuses them anew.

Our favorite moments from Assassin's Creed: Gold
Ok—I want more!
The Assassin's Creed video game franchise follows an intriguing premise: a centuries-old secret war between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, fought through various historical time periods and told from a modern-day perspective. The games are vast, immersive, and challenging with intricate puzzles, and, of course, deadly stealth assassinations. Assassin’s Creed: Gold is an all-new Audible Original multi-cast drama and stand-alone story that takes place during the Great Recoinage of 1696. Riz Ahmed, Danny Wallace, Tamara Lawrance, and Anthony Head as Isaac Newton (!!) give stellar performances in this breathtaking listen that captures the adrenaline-fueled action sequences from the video games. I must say that it does help if you’re just a tad familiar with the Assassin’s Creed world as there are some surprises from past games, but not so much where you’d be lost in the story. Bring on more video game-inspired listens!

Fits in perfectly to the overall AC lore
I am and have been a huge Assassin’s Creed fan since the first game, so with a grain of salt I must say I was extremely impressed with Assassin’s Creed Gold. It has all the hallmarks of your classic Assassin’s Creed story. I won’t spoil it here, but the twist of our historical protagonist Omar Khaled is not only inclusive but works brilliantly with this story being a spoken word presentation.
My only complaint is how heavily the story relies on curse words. The amount of S**t and F bombs they drop just comes across as forcefully edgy. It didn’t offend me by any means as I’m used to hearing “bad words” in mature entertainment but IMHO I would think a group of highly trained, constantly on the run modern day assassins would be not only accustomed to being chased but would be educated enough to use more creative verbiage.
Beyond that, it is absolutely worth your time, especially if you’re an Assassin’s Creed fan like myself.

Gripping audio drama still leaves you wanting
The writing and performance of this were aces in my opinion, however there is a jarring acclimation at the beginning: some may need coming to terms with Aliyah’s and Michelle’s VERY liberal use of the f-bomb (this word peppers my own tongue daily so didn’t really bother me but was surprising to hear HOW often), but otherwise (minor SPOILER BY OMISSION ahead!!!) My only gripe was they failed to included ANY Piece of Eden. They casually mention the Philosopher’s Stone twice in conversation, but it’s never searched for nor found, it’s all about the counterfeit money. That is to say, however, this story still holds its own both as a good narrative and as a good fit in the Assassin’s Creed world for its on-edge, betrayal-ridden, timehopping history lesson with a great sound design in the backgrounds to boot! As an AC fanboy, it’s a must-have for me. As a casual consumer, it’s a fantastical story nonetheless.

Assassin’s Creed was pretty juvenile.
I had hoped this book would have been some sort of adventurous story filled with intrigue and an intelligent plot. I was sorely disappointed to discover that the plot was juvenile and filled with dumb whinny outbursts from the lead characters. The plot was just plain ridiculous.

Didnt Feel Like Assassin's Creed
It didnt feel like an Assassin's Creed story. It was overall an alright story, but it felt more like some teen PC drama story.

Enjoyable listen.
The Story is about Sir Issac Newton involvement with a counterfeit conspiracy. The characters are well played and lively.

Interesante

Maybe just not my thing!
I enjoyed playing the game but definitely does not translate to book form for me. It lacks an eloquence and sophistication that a literary work needs to be successful. The amount of cursing in it just distracts from the story. In the game its fine as it is a submersive experience, but you need a different approach to achieve the same effect in a book. Also the fine graphics in the game need to compensated for by finer discription of place and atmosphere in a written work. Full credit to the actors but this script needs reworking.

Just not a good story
While I enjoyed the performance, I thought the story weak and disjointed. Spending too much time on minor parts of the story and then skipping through the important parts of the story seems like a strange thing to do.

A really frustrating listen
Having seen a few reviews bring the swearing into question I initially dismissed them as being too prudish, but actually having listened I have to agree that, yes, there is too much swearing! I'm still not sure if it's a misguided attempt to be edgy or just lazy writing, but it certainly doesn't add to the immersion.
Any kind of fictional entertainment asks that you suspend disbelief, but this book really makes you work hard to do so. Our main character is a grifter in the modern day, we first meet her pulling the classic 'find the lady' three card monte routine… In 2020… on the streets of London. As if that isn't hard enough to believe somehow a wealthy upper class mark comes along, who not only has never been made aware of this centuries old carnival scam through TV, books etc., but is also inexplicably willing to throw down a substantial amount of cash on the game. Upon discovering it's a scam he calls out for a "copper". Not "police", not "help", but copper. Maybe it seems like I'm overly analysing a small exchange, but they continue on like this throughout the opening.
Early on contact is made with the Assassins. A character introduces himself as being with the "Assassins Brotherhood", to which our protagonist immediately questions "brotherhood?". Again this is in the modern day, are we really meant to believe that of those two words it’s brotherhood she takes exception to?
Maybe I’m nitpicking, but I really found the dialogue to be painful to the point of absolutely drawing me out of the story at every opportunity.

Great Assassin's Creed story
loved this story, I dropped one star as I felt the ambient noises were a bit distracting (in the beginning at least). The characters were well written too...well worth a listen.

Engaging New AC Tale
This was a fantastic story with wonderful performances. Anthony Head stands out among the cast, and Riz Ahmed is brilliant as lead historical character, Omar Khaled. The audio drama may not advance the overall AC narrative, but it is a fun tale which breathes live back into the stalled world of Assassin’s Creed. And it gives us back my favourite character, Shaun Hastings. Fans will love this, as I did.

The past > The present
As with every other Assassin's Creed story before it, it's the moments set in the past that make AC Gold truly shine. The modern day story was fine but I personally wanted it to end each time so I could go back to listening to the conversations between Omar and Issac Newton. Solid story and performances throughout, even though Riz Ahmed steals the show as expected!

a smart choice
I've alqays been a fan of the assassin creed series but when this came out i didn't have much of an idea about weith i wanted to listen to it but after a while i was smiling at tge interesting ideas in it with blindness and fear of tight and/or dark place was "a smart"
