Enjoyable, involved thriller

Initially I was thrown by the sheer number of characters - hoping I'd be able to keep them all straight. But soon enough I was caught up in the all the goings-on and was able to just enjoy the story. I have no issue suspending disbelief when reading books and going to movies and you have to here. Everyone in this book is drop dead gorgeous, highly successful and one even has a superpower of sorts. Fine by me - wish there were more in real life. lol It's a quite involved and layered story and good for Wade for weaving them all together. This was my first experience of the author's work and look forward to trying a physical book next time! I'm also quite aware that Mei is many people's favorite narrator so want to hear more of her performances as well.

The story started with lots of possibility .

The story started with lots and lots of possibilities and interesting plot. the story starts to unravel with the injection right-wing political conspiracies and ideologies. The main characters generally are too perfect except for a couple of ethical missteps (without any consequences). the story should have focused on people meeting and coming together amidst difficult and tense times. General Carson is just not realistic and the president is lame and dumb. The last half of the story almost falls apart. The narrator was very good.

A Super Power

A classic Erin Wade with lots of strong women characters and interwoven emotions and plot elements. Love the narrator.

In the walk of the park

The time to surrender will be when the guard is down. There is a quality to this story that makes you think I wish I could do that to my enemies. In this funny witty and adventurous way of thinking.

Another winner

Erin’s imagination always amazes me. Her main characters are always beautiful, intelligent and sexy as hell. Victoria as always did an amazing job bringing Erin’s characters to life.

Don't waste your time or money

This is one of the worst books I have ever read or listened to. The characters are flat and annoying, the story line is completely unbelievable.I love fiction and have no problem with a supernatural twist but this is ridiculous. As if a woman being kidnapped then escaping to fall in love with her plastic surgeon and leaving her kids to be raised by a friend without a moments hesitation wasn't enough. We also have a super hypnotist working for the government that can charm bears into saving her life. Even the love scenes had me skipping ahead because they were just boring. Add the authors unveiled attempt to spew her political ideology and I just couldn't listen any longer.

Too Much To Ask

I usually like Erin Wade’s stories - not this one! Suspending disbelief only goes so far. Both parents and children had totally unrealistic responses to their circumstances. Apparently no one could decide whether Parker was a captain or a major, nor whether she was secret service or Special Ops. Too many inconsistencies nibbled away at my ability to enjoy this, especially the unexplained abilities Mecca has. Hypnosis doesn’t work even remotely like it is portrayed, Why is one person immune to suggestion but it works on everyone else? Oh, and you can’t take a picture of people and run them through NCIC! It’s not that kind of database and, truth be known, isn’t always accurate.
I could go on. Maybe I’m missing something and the author intentionally wrote the story this way.
Heck, I had trouble with all of this and can’t believe I finished it.
