Publisher's Summary

Samantha Weller, a forensic scientist turned paranormal novelist, owes her life and writing career to a crow that saved her from certain death. When she buys an old bookend that looks like her avian muse, her world begins to resemble the plots of her novels.

Determined to find the mate to her bookend, Samantha and her antiquarian sidekick, Liz, go on a search leading them to the beautiful and wealthy Gwen Laraway. Samantha is instantly smitten, but the age difference has Gwen second-guessing Samantha’s interest.

Meanwhile, Liz is crushing on Gwen’s niece, Isabel. As clueless as she is sensuous, Isabel hasn’t had a date since her high school prom 10 years ago, and she’s petrified to act on her sudden attraction to Liz.

Romance seems to be blooming all around, but problems arise when a restless ghost emerges from the ether to roam the dark corners of this haunting tale that explores the possibility of immortality.

Great from the Start!

I loved everything about this audiobook! from the narration to the storyline to the dialogue, this was a book I didn't want to end. There are really two sets of couples in story. All of the characters you will love. A mystery writer meets the woman of her dreams while searching for a crow bookend. Lots of things happen and then there are two happy couples and even a family of crows.

fantastic story

Great plot twists and two romances for the price of one. This book is two romances, a fascinating philosophy discussion, and a mystery all rolled into one.

The story is worth listening and reading too!

I have read this book multiple times, an each time I reread it something new hits my brain. I say to myself, WOW how did I miss that comment, humor or point of view. The Audio Version puts all of my Ah! Ha! moments together. I always read the book/story first before listen to the audio version. The author has done a fabulous job with this romance with a large dose of paranormal mixed in. She weaves all the various plots and scenes together so well, nothing gets dropped or missed. You can tell the amount of research or personal experience the author put into this story, and the audio version just confirms that all the pieces just click well together. If you believe in any portion of the supernatural or the metaphysical world, this story is totally believable. Makes you wonder what pieces of this story the author actually experienced.

I truly like Brittni Pope as a narrator. She puts great emotion into her narration. Her cadence is perfect, and she describes and is able to narrate the various moods and emotions into this story and the author intended. My only distraction in the narration is when she mispronounces key word, usually a name of place or location pertinent to the book/story. This is the second time in a month I listened to her and found her mispronunciation a place or location. It could be she is just not familiar the correct dialect of the placer or location, but it is an important piece this narrator has to figure out how to overcome. For those of us who are familiar with the location or place being mispronounced, it’s disconcerting. I hope in the future she verifies with the author how to pronounce key places or locations so it does not kill the mood in those scenes.
