Publisher's Summary
July 1831. In the midst of their idyllic honeymoon in England's Lake District, Kiera and Gage's seclusion is soon interrupted by a missive from her new father-in-law. A deadly incident involving a distant relative of the Duke of Wellington has taken place at an abbey south of Dublin, Ireland, and he insists that Kiera and Gage look into the matter.
Intent on discovering what kind of monster could murder a woman of the cloth, the couple travel to Rathfarnham Abbey school. Soon a second nun is slain in broad daylight near a classroom full of young girls. With the sinful killer growing bolder, the mother superior would like to send the students home, but the growing civil unrest in Ireland would make the journey treacherous. Before long, Kiera starts to suspect that some of the girls may be hiding a sinister secret. With the killer poised to strike yet again, Kiera and Gage must make haste and unmask the fiend before their matrimonial bliss comes to an untimely end.

Great story; so-so narrator
I hate to finish a book I've anxiously awaited because it means more waiting for the next one. This is another good Lady Darby story.
Set in Ireland, Keira and Gage investigate the death of a nun. The author is fabulous with her research and historic references. The story is decent and has an outcome I didn't expect. Good mystery.
I must say that the narrator of the audiobook is really bugging me. She is pretty boring. There were a few mispronounciations as well.
Overall, a great addition to the series and worth the wait! Brava, Anna.

Gave up in frustration--narration ruins the story
This is a series I have very much enjoyed and eagerly looked forward to new books coming out.
But to tell the truth, I just could not get through this book. I simply cannot stand to listen any longer.
The narrator has a beautiful voice--it is poetic, even musical. Her accent is delightful. However, I find her inability to read a simple sentence in a normal, natural sounding fashion to be so off-putting that I can't make it through this book at all. I find it sad that someone with such a lovely-sounding voice is unable to read in a straightforward way.
I tried. I've backed this story up several times to try to catch what got lost in the confusing cadence she uses, but it just isn't worth it. She reads things in a sing song fashion and puts emphasis on the most unnatural words in sentences, that it simply leaves me wanting to beg her to quit "trying" so hard, and just read in normal, spoken tones and tempo.
I should think the author would want to listen to this before releasing it in audible format. I wish I could recommend this, but I just cannot. The series, however is good. I suggest getting it in book form.

Lady Darby's special skills as an anatomist and artist play no part in solving the two murders in this story I found that disappointing

Good plot, good history
I don't like the main character. She's a naturally uppity snob. The saving part is -- she's probably more realistic than other heroines in the same historical setting, most of whom are really contemporary women wearing the old clothes in old time rooms and houses.
But the plot I found to be really good and the history accurate so I'm quite tempted to try another in the series.
