Well conceived. To much detail in areas that didn’t need it and not enough detail in areas that needed it

Great story

The story is interesting enough to keep going but there are times you just want to skip a bunch. The author tries to make the 2 main characters very interesting but just. does not develop them well. He tries to capitalize on the experience of a Naval officer and an enlisted ex-seal but he makes them seem like they never had any experience because they continually just seem to have no clue as to what is going on. There are other times when the story just rambles on a subject that should be covered in 2 min yet it takes 10 mins to move on so the story just drags on and is frustrating. The author should make the characters the level of experience he tries to portray not rudimentary, inexperienced plain old guys.

*I was given this free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is the second listen I've done of Dan narrating. For me, Dan is one to listen to at normal speed because this is where you hear the calm in his voice that fits the genre of the book. To get a feel of his story telling, listen at normal speed, and if you want to speed it up, do so after you know his tone and feel for the characters. The audio is clean and clear. I didn't pick up anything distracting in the recording as I listened, I was focused on the voice and story.

There are times the characters sound as a weaker character because of the wording or spacing vocalized in speaking. The feel of interaction between the characters doesn't feel natural at times. It seemed to me that the questions the characters ask themselves make them sound short of smart. If they just drew conclusions, it would sound like they were more aware of what they were doing instead of questioning. I know these characters are smart or they wouldn't be doing what they are doing or lived through what they had.

When machinery is detailed out, I pay attention as I'm sure that will come back as things get dangerous. We are spending time under water with the characters, and there is danger there along with what they are exploring. And some of the details do come back into play.

Carter Hunt and Jayden Takada are a team. They work well together, but they seem a tad boring as a pair. In the beginning there didn't feel to be much difference between their personalities. Jayden's the one that cracks jokes off and on through the book, but at times they felt out of place for me. I understand it's Jayden's way of dealing with stressful moments, make a joke to lighten the moment to keep going. But the heart wasn't in the jokes.

This is the second book with the Omega team and I got a feel that the team may expand in number after this adventure. They could use a few more people on the team to do technical things while they are in the field and on the move. I think adding characters will add to the story along with depth of the characters. I'm curious to see more with the team and how the stories along with characters grow.

I enjoyed the thrill of the adventure Carter and Jayden were on. It's a series I'd like to see grow with characters and adventures. There's a lot of good in the story line to follow. I like Carter and Jayden's morals on life and what they are doing. I enjoyed the connections made to take them where they went in search of the Ark.

There is a thread left at the end of the book. It's not about the story but more along the lines of who their enemy is. Carter and Jayden don't want to kill anyone, so this leaves an opening for the "bad guy". So... what other artifacts can be found that both will fight over?

Adventure from the Titanic wreck to the church.

Ark Found is an excellent, action-packed sequel to Atlantis Gold. The story follows Carter Hunt and Jayden Takada as they embark on a mission for their newly formed company Omega Team. This mission starts out at the Titanic, and their exploration of the ship in a sub was intense and had me holding my breath in parts. As their mission takes them from the Titanic to other parts of the world, they encounter their nemesis, Daedalus from Treasure, Inc., who keeps showing up at the worst times.

I was excited when Rick Chesler announced this sequel to Atlantis Gold, and was definitely not disappointed. I am hopeful that there will be many more books in this series in the future, and I also hope that Dan Delgado is the narrator for them. His narration is clean and concise and it made listening a pleasure.

Excellent Adventure
