Are you trapped in cycles of neediness and withdrawal that leave you exhausted and frustrated?
This painful pattern is more common than you might think.
A study revealed that approximately 20 percent of the adult population exhibits anxious attachment styles. Trapped in unfulfilling cycles of clinging and distancing, this group grapples with persistent feelings of insecurity and self-doubt. The struggle is real—but it does not have to define your life forever.

Now, you might be skeptical. "I've read dozens of self-help books", you may be thinking. Or you may ask, "Would these techniques work for someone as anxious as me?" or even "What if confronting these issues worsens my anxiety?"
This empathetic guide understands those reservations and does not claim to replace therapy. Rather, it aims to enhance your understanding of anxious attachment—to function as an essential companion in your journey towards peaceful attachment interactions.

Free from the Anxiety
I rarely write reviews, but this book changed my dating life completely. After years of obsessively checking my phone for texts and panicking when someone took too long to respond, I found practical steps here that actually work. The chapter on self-soothing techniques helped me stop the spiral of worry when my partner needs space.
Within weeks of applying these strategies, I noticed my shoulders weren't permanently stuck by my ears anymore! My partner even commented on how much more relaxed our conversations have become. If you're tired of that constant knot in your stomach from relationship anxiety, this guide provides real solutions without the fluff.

Fantastic Advice!
I purchased this book to help a friend who has been honest with me for many years about his father leaving his family when he was a teenager. You can hear the pain in his voice when he talks about it. I wanted to be more informed on the phenomenon he is experiencing. Many of the topics in the book make sense to me, and align with my friend's experiences. At least now I'll have a better understanding of what he's feeling, and some of the root causes of the anxiety he shares. Thank you! A timely resource!

practical tips on dealing with anxious attachment
Truly hope people read this book. If you suffer from anxiety (and so many do), an inability to be alone, or the habit of catastrophizing people's reactions to you, you may not realize how much it's impacting your relationships and quality of life. This book is full of valuable information on how to identify your own challenges with anxious attachment. It offers strategies to start making changes, so you can better communicate and understand how your partner or family members perceive your anxiety. Sometimes this shows up as clinginess (which can make them further disengage from you). The "avoid always and never" in conversations hit deep, as well as the techniques to calm the mind when you can't stop replaying your daily interactions. The info is laid out clearly, with examples on how to center yourself when waiting for a response from someone, or finding new ways to connect with your inner value. Highly recommend!

Insightful and transformational.
This audiobook felt like a safe, steady hand guiding me through some of the toughest emotional territory. A.J. Brooks explains anxious attachment in a way that’s not only easy to understand but also incredibly compassionate. The real-life examples helped me see my own patterns so clearly, especially the cycles of clinging and withdrawal I never fully understood before. The strategies for calming the fear of abandonment and building more secure relationships were practical without feeling overwhelming. If you’ve ever felt trapped in anxiety and self-doubt in your relationships, this book shows you that change is possible—and it does it without judgment. I’ll be revisiting this one whenever I need a reminder of how far I’ve come.

This was a calming journey into Anxious Attachment
A woman with a calm and soothing voice narrated this audiobook, and I enjoyed listening to it. These patterns of anxiety are widespread in this high-stress society. People's attention is constantly solicited by the technology that is part of our everyday life, making it difficult to slow down and center oneself. The author described the importance of recognizing the toxic patterns of attachment related to fear. I loved the emphasis on mindfulness and treating yourself with respect and patience. It is essential to surround yourself with people who have positive mindsets, as it can make all the difference in the world. This practical guide is designed to help people overcome Anxious Attachment patterns, and it is a must-listen for anyone suffering from these disorders.

Calming and So Helpful!
This audiobook made me feel seen. It explained the anxious thoughts and patterns I’ve struggled with for years in such a clear, compassionate way. I appreciated how practical the tools were—I’ve already started using some of the techniques, and I feel more in control and less reactive. It’s like a gentle reset for your mind and heart.

Getting rid of toxic patterns
Narration is clear, calm, and engaging—perfect for a topic that often brings up emotional weight. It feels like listening to a wise friend who really gets what you're going through. What makes this audiobook stand out is how it doesn’t just tell you to “stop being clingy”—instead, it walks you through where those patterns come from and how to gently shift them over time.
Chapters on recognizing toxic cycles, rebuilding self-worth, and setting healthy boundaries are especially helpful. There's also a strong emphasis on developing internal security rather than relying on external validation, which is a refreshing and necessary perspective.
