Publisher's summary

Marooned in an alien body on an alien world. It is the 25th century. The planet's most ambitious project is Starmind, an Islamic research institute that transfers the minds of volunteers, called Ansibles, across gulfs of space and time to make first contact with other sentient beings in the universe.

Each of the Ansible stories follows one team of brave minds across the void. These are their reports, their transcripts, the only accounts of what they have found.

A Most

I stumbled across this amazing book and was hooked by the first paragraph. The mystery and suspense of the author writing it first class. Do not waste time buy this book.

Intriguing exploration of life

What I enjoyed most about this book was trying to see through an alien creatures body from a human perspective. It's definitely unique and thought provoking. An interesting read to make your wonder what might be out there and how might they perceive the world around them.

Unexpectedly Awesome

I bought this thinking it was going to be a collection of sci-fi short stories set on interesting planets with cool alien species. As it turns out, that assumption was correct -- but, when each individual piece is viewed as a chapter in a unified novel, it's also a horror story. A simple and understated but highly effective one.

The author has a strong command of evocative prose (as evidenced in his other books) and these shorter works showcase that ability well. Short stories in particular are great for Stant Litore's writing style, letting the reader take it in via quick bursts without giving the "flavor" a chance to overwhelm the content. When paired with Amy McFadden's vibrant narration, the result is a compelling and memorable listening experience.

Very glad I didn't end up listening to this at work as I'd planned -- would have been too distracted to get anything done!

profoundly lonely and also quite beautiful

the first time I read this I could not finish. really I couldn't even start it. I was not ready.

this book is a unique and profoundly emotional experience. it takes time to digest. it's somewhere between Syfy and religious text and horror in a unique way that is hard to describe, but is also not something to miss.
I highly recommend reading this book if you are ready for it.
